What is a good navigation system for a pre runner

Looking for a built in system to put in the glove box area but don’t know a good brand that has these things.
1. A big screen 10inch or bigger
2. A satellite map of United States
3. A touch screen
4. A simple software

 

An IPad operating off my cell phone works for me when needed.
Other than that, I got nothing, I’m still running a stock 07’ Radio.

 

Yeah, I thought about that but I need something with satellite signal.

 

Where are you trying to navigate? The best navigation I know of is Gaia GPS, and it can run on a tablet that has GPS capability, or on a phone laptop. You have to very careful though because some lower priced tabs say they have GPS when they don't. They actually have location services based off of cell towers. If you are operating beyond cell towers, you need downloadable maps, and a tab with a true GPS receiver chip.

My system is a 2019 version Samsung Tab-A 10.1" screen running Gaia GPS Premium. You can download a simple version of Gaia for free, but for $40/year you get amazing capability. The software is pretty user friendly. My system works anywhere I go, and I am out beyond cell signal on a regular basis. Get as much memory as you can. Here is the tab I have:

iPad that has GPS. Drove from Florida to Alaska using Gaia, Google Maps and Waze. I had a 10.1 inch and while it was big Navigating was not even a problem. We did sign up for a data plan for the month but have to say as soon as we hit Canada it was not existent. Google and Gaia let you down load maps.

Now looking at your photo you could also go fully crazy and roll your own with a custom PC and large touch screen. Usb GPS’s are dirt cheap and most PCs and Monitors run off 12v

 

I don't have a specific suggestion for you, but I would recommend whatever you decide on, make sure it has onboard maps and doesn't require a data signal like most devices now a days to download maps. Alot of folks 'think' they have navigation, but really just have a GPS antenna to pic up your location and require a cell data link to download and show a map to put that point on. So no cell signal, no map. Just my $0.02 worth

 

I run a non web enabled iPad with the lead nav puck... works really good

 

Yeah, Looking for something besides an iPad I have used one in the past but never really felt like a race ready nav system that Is always ready to go. Cool truck though.

When I did that it came up with little tablets from megellen and Garmin.
