new rims and tires rubbing

hi was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with rubbing on the inside of the fender. i put in on 285/70/17 nitto tera grapplers. tires are too big for my 06 double cab tacoma. first rubbed on my control arm so i put new rims on with a bigger offset and now rub on the inside of the fender. does a guy trim it up and cut a bit off? thanks

 

In order to fit those 285's, you need wheels with 4.5" Backspacing, a 3 inch lift, and you will need to trim a lot of plastic, and possibly chop the cab mount.

where exactly is it rubbing, i know you said inside of the fender but inside back when you turn or front? you might just be rubbing on the little black plastic nub that is front bottom sticking down

 

I have the same size of tires with a readylift 2.75". I just had to do a little trimming on the inside of the fender flare, removed the front mudflaps and the plastic coverings in the front attached to the wheel well since I didnt want to cut them. No rubbing now that I can tell.

 

ya removing the plastic covering maby would have been a better idea. I really didn't like cutting up my truck. it sure looks good though. And whats this backspacing your talking about? Im unfamiliar with it? I would also like to know how you can take out the orange class in the headlights if possible. thanks for your help

 

are you lifted?

Also, you can take out the lens in the headlight by baking them and prying them apart. Search for BHLM (black headlight mod)

 

you will most likely have to trim the little plactic nub at the bottom of the fender... and. does anyone know if i can run 285s on my sport 17s? i have 1.25" wheel spacers and a 3 inch lift. thanks ive heard a few different things.. and for some reason i cant start a new thread? can someone help me!!

I think that is all pending on -what tires and bumper you have. Some tires are -just a little bigger.

I installed Revo's 285/75/16 on XD Hoss with 4.5 backspacing.
My truck is lifted 1.5" on the left and 1" right side. I have a Relentless bumper and in the street I have no rubbing at all.
I removed the frond mud flaps and thats it.
I test it on the street (loaded with four guys) but I am pretty sure that off road would be another story.
