The only gambling I do is blackjack. Twice a year with 4 good buddies. We all know how to play and we just take over a table. We win way more then we loose.

I'm do like leverage and don't mind risk. That's why I prefer to trade options. I don't consider them a gamble but do consider them insanely risky. There is no other trading tool that you can loose all of your investment on. But it's also almost impossible to flip a 100% gain in a month on any stock. Options can do that. Not often but I have doubled more then once.

Well turns out both etrade and robinhood denies me access to options trade. I gotta be approved by etrade to trade my own money HAHAHA, unbelievable. Probably a good thing, I have no idea wtf im doing anyways.

yeah options are usually a ladder gate that you need to show backing or some level of knowledge because you can get real jacked up real quick.

I just looked up my short term capital gains tax rate and :(

How do y’all prepare for when that bill comes? I’m thinking about just estimating what it’ll be once the tax year ends and putting aside that money in my checking account

I just set $5-10k aside at all times, use it for things like that, fill it back up after it's used.

Hello! Just found this thread...Because if you search STOCK on a tacoma board you mostly get results for suspension upgrades :)
I am sitting pretty today...I'm long on DIS. I own at $85 and shares as low as $47. I was concerned about earning so 3 weeks ago when it was hovering at $100 I bought/sold a collar $105 May 15 Call for $330 and then bought the $85 put for $280...The stock then shot up in 2 days and the call went to nearl $1K (So painful to watch) and the put fell to like $35...Well I 2x down. I reasoned that the decision was a good one no matter what so I Bought the June 5 $107 DIS puts on 4/29 for $4.40 when it was trading at $112...and now they have almost 2x pre market today...I'm hoping for a little DIS dip...I like to sell 1/2 if it doubles to leave the remaining "free"...I usually don't dabble in puts because it's so easy to get burned but they really seemed like a lock.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't allowed "speculative" options trading until I had $25K in my account....First I was approved for selling covered calls (Selling someone else the right to buy my shares in the future at a specific price for a premium) and then I was able to buy calls, buy puts...I would NEVER sell naked...never...that's just insane. I made a lot of money selling short term covered calls on volatile stocks and buying them back. You just have to be willing to give up your shares if they get exercised. Be sure and do the math on long calls. Sometimes they don't make sense. The premium is more than the profit of the same amount of money spent on shares today if the stock reached that price. This was the case with ROKU calls recently. The cost of the calls was more than what the same $ in shares purchased today would be worth...

WTF happened from this morning to now o_O bye bye. TRTX up everything else down. FLIR is annoying, looks like they had a good Q1. I've even been to their place in Mass for a solidworks meeting before :p

Seems like a battle right now whether it turns up or down. We just need some good news that shows we can move forward.

Any news on whether or not TRTX is going to pay that 24% dividend? The ex-dividend date is next month, they may try to cover it once, but no way they can give that kind of return over and over again!

Not sure but I do know they will be back at that $20 level. I’m really hoping for at least a 500% return before I sell, I’m at 100% right now...
