I’ve had gunmetals which held up good when off roaring. I now have the the ray 10 stealth blues but paint coat isn’t thick . Very easy to get rock chips on that finish.

You can buy center caps separately at $6 each. I did this. Vin told me that its not rust, it was my fault for not removing the clear plastic coating/cover/sticker over the center cap before putting it on. That it got dried and stuck to it and then weathered. But when i got new replacement ones, there were no clear coverings again though i scratched and pulled to peel any off.

I live in Western Pennsylvania and have the SR8's and I will say the winter is really hard on them. They are chipped beyond belief. I am not knocking the wheels and let me say I did buy them blemished so no guaranties there. The rocks and salt they put on the roads bounces around inside the lip and chips them. I thought if there was a kind of gutter system piece to bolt on to the fake beadlock bolt and go right into the track like a ramp to throw the stuff out that would save them but nothing of the such. Great wheel, just doesn't hold up well in this neck of the woods!

Well, I received a call from Freeman Toyota today. I had been on their waiting list and they informed me that the 16” gunmetal SCS Ray10s were in stock. It was finally time to shit or get off the pot. I knew somebody else would gladly take my spot if I didn’t act quickly.

So, I decided to quit overthinking it, pulled the trigger, and completed the order. I feel relieved that my personal debate is over and I’m now committed to proceeding with my “build plan.” Hopefully they get here soon. I’ve been wanting these wheels for a couple of years. Very excited!

You understand very rarely are rims balanced with out tires on them. Not to mention if you know how to balance tires correctly it's not an issue. I've installed and balanced a hand full of ray 10s and I've never had an issue getting them with in perfect balance. Sounds like what ever machine you were using is calibrated incorrectly, or the person balancing is an idiot. The wheels and tires that ACTUALLY are a pain in the ass are the +20s that have +34 tires on them. You gotta put some much fucking weight on those fuckers to get them right.

Does anyone make a ring with the same bolt pattern, that can bolt over the rim to protect it from trail damage? Similar to the OMF beadlock conversion, but just the "sacrificial" ring.

Ray 10's been holding up well for me. Just sad about the rock rash on one.

I used my stock tires. I literally had them balanced by 5 different discount tires and road forced. I used proper lugs too I did everything I could do to make these work for me. It was all documented and videos of the truck bouncing on the freeway were sent to scs. I did everything scs advised and still got kicked to the curb. I went back to stock wheels with the same stock tires and had no issue. I’m still running stock

I’ve had two sets of SCS wheels (stealth 6 and now Ray 10) and I would buy another set. They have held up well for me, always balanced well, and feel very solid going down the highway or trail. My biggest complaint is the channel that collects water and debris. I’ve had my 10s since early 17 and the finish still looks great besides the rock rash. No rubbing issues but I did some cutting.

Yeah that sounds you got some wheels that were improperly made. When they made they might've been a slight angle to one side of the wheel actually weighed more than the other sides. Cause I've seen this exact problem I'm describing with other wheels. Only ever happend to brands that I've never heard of. Never seen it happen with well know brand. That really sucks man feel bad cause scs wheels are sick and it sucks that happened and made you think they got a bad reputation.
