Hey guys! We were planning a camping/overland trip this weekend in North Carolina to just get away from everything for a few days.

I can see that all the state run campsites are closed but can anyone confirm if free camping and boondocking is still allowed in the National Forest? If campsites at the state parks are closed are you still aloud to disperse camp in the forest?

We wanted to find a nice secluded spot off Old NC 105 and camp for sat and sun.

Old 105 is open. Roseboro Rd may be open also. This was just Tuesday on 105..
You may have to walk in to other places?

Leave it to Government to close the places that let city-folks get away from the other city folks. Good luck folks.

Yes we found a good spot and camped right off of 105. This was on the 21st though before the shelter in place orders.

    Stock for now.. maybe
I was just camping and kayaking in western North Carolina. All private campgrounds closed as well (unless you are full time resident). So we moved up to this isolated road and after the first night there we were asked to leave by forest service, even though technically we weren't on forest land or forest service road.
Have fun, be careful and know that a lot of people around there were not caring about the 6' rule or being clean

Haha it’s an electric fence that’s runs off a 12v battery so anything that touches it gets a little zap. Only way I could get the wife to camp in bear country lmao. Bears don’t like electricity
