Note that it is referring to headlight DRL (as required in Canada), not the more common amber indicator DRLs. Headlight DRLs work by running the headlights at reduced voltage, that reduced voltage may cause the relay to activate, but not be strong enough to keep it engaged, meaning the relay may buzz and fail quickly.

I’d give the KCs a shot but they don’t seem interested in making them fit earlier 2nd gens. I think I’ll do DD SS3 Pros in selective yellow if DD ever actually produces the mount for them that they’ve been saying is coming.

That's good to hear. I'm mostly worried about ice building up while driving through snow or freezing rain and that kind of crap. Honestly, it will probably be a rare occurrence, if ever, that I need the fogs full capability and those conditions occurring at the same time.

Yeah, I eventually was able to find that part of the post. My truck was actually imported from Canada but it still only has the amber light on when headlights are off so no worries there. I saw something about disabling DRL headlight so maybe even DRL headlight trucks can use this heavier duty harness with the DRL disabled?

Performance in the snow will depend on the type of snow. If it doesn't stick to the front of the vehicle it won't be a concern. Snow that is wet enough to stick will cover the G4s, my first run with them in the snow resulted in them being covered.

If you can disable the headlight DRL so it no longer does partial voltage when the low beams are not fully on, then the upgrade with the harness will work.

I tried searching but is there a way to have fog lights on with the brights? My fog lights turn off when I switch to brights

There is actually a medical / physical reason not to have your fogs and high beams on at the same time. Grossly oversimplified, fogs are for foreground lighting and high beams are for distance lighting. Your eyes cannot focus properly on both and will default to foreground focus with both on. This kind of defeats the purpose of the high beams.

GE has been phasing out of Automotive lighting, however their parent company Tungsram that produces the bulbs will continue to sell the products under the Tungsram label. While Tungsram branded bulbs have been available in the past, they were pretty uncommon to find. This is the first one I've seen at a major bulb seller as part of the label transition.

Hmmm, interesting. Now all I have to do is burn through my stash of GE bulbs. Thanks for sharing!

In the Tacoma, yes. (Actually on my last set of Hypers.) But the xB (with no HD harness) is running the GE's. If only I could get somebody to make me a harness ...

You could always make your own. I am still waiting on a relay and some pins but will be doing a write up in the Ultimate Foglight. Besides a heat gun and a crimper no special tools are needed.

You could also see if Rallylights will build a shorter version of the fog harness if you really wanted to go that route.

True, and I'd thought about it. Unfortunately, I'm a little too busy right now to do it. Truth be told, 1st generation xB's have awesome stock headlights and @crashnburn's upgrade would make them absolutely killer.

$110 for the harness from Headlight Services and $25/pr bulbs from PowerBulbs. So your looking at about $135. I recommend buying 2 sets of bulbs so you have spares on hand and don’t have to wait on shipping when you reorder.

I for some reason my cart showed 220 I think I may clicked twice.

Just to be clear the headlight service harness is completely plug and play?

And which bulbs are you purchasing?
