    Little bit of stuff.
Do they do "retail" driveshaft work or do you just have the in? Been looking for another place since the previous place I went to didn't really impress me. Told him I wanted a booted slip to start with, took two weeks, I go to pick it up and he had put on one without a boot and said nah, you'll be fine. Thing seized up after 6 months without any wheeling or submersion.

I believe he does it retail as well but usually will tell people he will do it after hours. Thats just what I've heard but you might want to call and double check. Mine is for a regular cab so basically from the carrier bearing to the rear diff is the length of my driveshaft compared to other cab sizes. Mine was $120 for the re-tube, balance, and new ujoint. It got re-tubed with .086" wall if I remember right, which is about .020" thicker than OE if I remember right

Trail damages update. I could be wrong but I think the dealer may be full of it. I swung by after work today, going with insurance tomorrow to get an actual quote and have them show me the damages they're seeing. I could be wrong, but I don't see any front drive damages. That said, the cross member does have a big dent. BUT the guy said I hit it and pushed it up into the transmission.....

I'll update tomorrow but part of me is thinking I'll be taking my truck from the dealer tomorrow and not worrying about the toyota care plan. I could also be completely wrong and missing mountains of damages. I'll be there with my phone to take more pictures and get an actual write up for what they're saying tomorrow. They've been super vague and told me "There's some damages" and "You bottomed it out hard" and "it's not safe to drive" but haven't really given me any details, so tomorrow, 10:30, finally going to actually see what they're saying is damages.

All I see is a dented front skid, which is super easy to do, and a dented crossmember. Which is difficult but not unheard of. AMD some scratches on the lca which is fine.

On the other hand it's hard to tell. If anything steering wise was jacked it'd likely be the spindle which are thin and prone to bending.

yeah I mean it didn’t drive any different other than squeaks on the drive home. Then the squeaks went away and there is still an oscillation that happens as the wheel rotates.

I’ll see what they say tomorrow morning and let y’all know. Yeah if it’s just slightly to mostly cosmetic whatever.

Appears to be relatively normal damages from your pics, not sure how bad the crossmember is, but other than that it looks like an alignment would show any other issues or fix some current ones

Doesn't look bad UNLESS that 2nd pic actually has a cracked a-arm look just to the tire side behind centric bolt... They are probably pricing OEM parts & time for your "twisted/scratched' damage....

Perfectly honest, unless they are fattening it with "fluff", they are protecting you & them...... The true co$t of Wheeling in New England.... 1st axle/cv boot replacement after "Blueberry" mountain in Epsom awoke my wallet to that....:fistbump:

Everyone back home be safe :) BUT enjoy those trails

God damn. I don’t see how the crossmember could be pushed into the transmission though. And a cracked pan would be pretty obvious. Curious regarding the truth about the control arm. Doesn’t look cracked to me, and I think a bent control arm would pretty noticeably affect your alignment.

Fix the crossmember by pulling it. Control arm looks fine, get a fresh alignment and ask for a printout with the diagrams not just numbers. Skidplates mint. Probably got a rock jammed in a funny spot making noise.

It's insane how fragile the rear driveshaft is. Definitely the unprotected Achilles heel.

Yeah I think there's like a 99% chance I'm taking it this morning and then never going back there, I'll do my own oil and diff changes, they're not complicated.

The wall thickness isn't very thick, so it's not super surprising. Mine was more wrecked from having it spin while sitting on a rock. Anytime you get a shaft re-tubed I'd ask for thicker walled material. Somewhere around .100" wall can take quite a bit more beating

Yeah I definitely had it retubed thicker after this. This was after the ENH trip in September. But I paid $400 which I know is way overpriced, especially after hearing what your guy charges.

I'm not sure how much he charges other people, I think it's only a little more than that. I bought a second driveshaft through Rob when he worked for LKQ so now I can just swap them in and out

UPDATE added to the thread I posted:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/toyota-says-i-have-lots-of-damages.665284/#post-23319451

Long of the short: Damages are fine, toyota/insurance wanted to replace my frame, I'll be doing my own oil changes from now on, and likely will trade this truck in sooner than I initially intended. Took the truck home, might try to bend back the engine cradle mount for the LCA some day eventually.

When my tires go I'm thinking of these. Maybe not that size o_O

Rough dude. At least it’s driveable. I had the same tires on that XTerra in 285/75r16 and could not have been happier

I mean, I'd say it's more than just driveable, it's absolutely fine. Sure, it won't get the same trade in estimate in a few years and private sale will be a bit less, but if I price this 1K below "Like new" condition, people would jump on it since it's a discount Tacoma :D :D

@MurderedTacoV2 I'm not keeping up with you next time.
