Went to Discount Tire today to double check I'd be ordering the correct set up that would fit my 2018 sport and was a little disappointed...

Currently running stock 17'' OEM wheels, 265/65/17 firestone destination

Wanted 16'' aftermarket wheels (link below), 265/75/16 Falken Wildpeaks

I was told any 16'' wheel wouldn't fit around the front break calipers. This was just done on an eyeball and not a true fit test. I had done a lot of research to make sure I was on the right path before heading down to order and I know a lot of other Tacoma trims run 16'', I was a little shocked I hadn't come across this in any threads when researching wheel/tire sizes.

Can a 3rd gen TRD Sport run 16's? wheels and tires are cheaper at 16 and I like the look much better with a beefier sidewall. If I am stuck at 17, I am not interested in lifting but open to trimming, would 275/70s work (Ive heard with trd pro wheels on stock suspension they do) and any comments on the downsides of 255/80/17s which I understand are "pizza cutters"

    Thanks!

I’m thinking of going skinnier next set
Canadian weather and my driving habits suit them

You can run 265/70R17 without problem, same general size as the 265/75R16 but a one inch bigger hole in the middle. But overall same size.

and the sport is the same as every other tacoma, and most models run a 16” wheel. The sports basically have a hood scoop and 17” rims to set them apart. You can fit a 16” wheel. They did a “visual” inspection but it’ll fit. Maybe the wheels you specifically asked wouldn’t work, but lots of trucks run 16s.

If the person said that ANY 16" wheel will NOT fit on a Sport then then he/she is full of shit. A 16" will fit. I plan on getting 16s once my current tires need to be replaced.

    Stawk as FUCK!
2020 Tacoma Pro wheels are 16” and weigh 20lbs. I’m leaning towards this setup for my 2019 Sport instead of the 17” 4Runner TRD Pro wheels which are 25lbs.

any idea of wheel specs for 16'' that works? like offset/backspacing. I'd like to test fit or have a couple wheels that should work if the one I try is a no go.
I had asked for a test fit yesterday but was laughed off after the ocular pat down the guy did on my front calipers. I didn't think it was such a big ask haha

I have a 2019 sport DCSB 4x4. I went from the stock 17" to the ENKEI RPT1 16x8 0 offset. I keep going back and forth about the look of the 16s on a sport so I also have a set of 18x9 on order.

I do get annoyed when I try to clean the barrel of the front wheels. They are so close to the calipers I can't even get a sponge in there to clean.

I don’t know the wheel specs, but I’m sure you could find them easy enough on tacoma world.

also, check out FN wheels. They make a replica TRD pro wheel that is just the absolute most perfect fit in the wheel well; those specs are gold

Yes that works. But if you are on the ground cleaning the inside of your wheels, you're probably soaking wet. Last thing I want to do is jump up in my truck and move it forward 12 inches. It's more of an excuse to upgrade to an 18.

I’m not a fan of bigger wheels, so I hardly consider 18s an upgrade. But to each their own.

PS if you’re getting soaking wet washing your vehicle, you might be doing it wrong
