That's the tundra radio if I'm not mistaken.

I think you're right - I read down a little further and it says that it's similar to the Tundra

LOL. I was looking at FSM which labels it as violet based on their color key. :p

Exactly why I go by pin#

I see what you did there... :D

No worries, I was going to link your thread anyway if you hadn't yet done so. Great value.

Also -- these 4-pin connector pigtails are real handy to put behind any switches. Keeps a bit of flexibility when you're putting switches into panels, so you can still remove the panel again... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0140KO7K4/

I do like the harness and would probably do that so i don't have to cut any oem wires, but then again who cares 'cause i soldered in the harness for the remote start so why stop there :)

Shop around, I'm sure there's better pricing at higher quantities. I just bought what I'll need, as my parts drawers are already too full.

This is for a 2016 Tacoma Off-Road 4x4 with Premiuem JBL AUdio. The good part about this, you do not have to cut any of the oem wiring so you can return everything to stock.

The unnecessary backstory, Crux should provide instructions and specific compatibility limitations. Instead they provide the hardware you paid for and nothing else. I emailed Crux my specific make, model, package, etc and asked to them to confirm the AVITY-01 would work with my model of the Entune head unit. They stated it was compatible. When installing i noticed my head unit did not have a port available for the 5 pin (white wire on the crux harness) or 9 pin (orange and white) switches. Prior to that, i hadn't read about the 5 or 9 switches so it's likely my homework was poor. Once installed, the video would come through great until releasing the parking brake, which is when the in motion lockout kicked in. I searched, trying to find someone who found a way around it on the 2016 taco w/jbl but nothing clear. Most of the "mods" I found were prior to the 2016 model but most of it was similar. Hopefully all that time helps someone else.

Here is the front of the head unit, without power.
    entune_w_jbl_front.jpg

Here is the back (the white block on the lower right is just to hold it level, not a part of the hu)
    entune_w_jbl_back.jpg

Based on the in-motion lock message and all the forums, the two things that terminate the video are A. The parking brake is disengaged B. The vehicle is in motion. I found a wire diagram of the Entune for the 2016 tacoma stereo and there is an input for the Parking Brake (oem Yellow Wire Pin 15 on N25) and a Speed Wire/Sensor (oem Violet wire Pin 17 on N25). Both of these are located on the N25 connector. The picture below is how the connections appear when you are looking at the back of the head unit.
    entune_diagram.jpg

The connection for the Parking Brake is the lowest right corner of N25 (pin 15), and the Speed Wire (pin 17) is the second wire to the left of the parking brake wire. Based on what I read (thank you toyota community), the Parking Brake connection going into the head unit needs to be grounded, and the connection of the speed wire needs to be disconnected. The downside being, once the speed wire is disconnected, the GPS becomes less accurate. My experience, once the speed wire is disconnected, the navigation becomes useless for tracking and resets within 10-20 seconds once the speed wire is reconnected (via switch). The great part is that you more navigation options and can change Bluetooth devices while the vehicle is moving. A big value add for the Crux interface is to to not lose function, but it seems to be ineffective on the JBL Entune units, at least on 2016 Taco OR 4x4. Perhaps because this model does not have the 5 or 9 switch control on the left side of the steering wheel?

The remaining option, i'm aware of, ground the PB connection and add a switch for the Speed Wire so GPS is not completely disabled.

Here is the back of the head unit with the Crux AVITY-01 plug in N25.
    entune_w_jbl_back_crux_n25_in_LI.jpg

Here are the specific wires that matter most. Below is the N25 connector from the Crux AVITY-01 in the back of the head unit. The first wire in the bottom right of N25 is the parking brake wire. The green, second wire to the left wire is the Speed Wire, but first the Parking Brake.
    entune_w_jbl_back_pin_15_routed_LI.jpg

Since the Crux adapter is just the middle-man, all of these changes can be made to that adapter. The Avity-01 is almost $200 so please use a reliable alternative if you find one before buying the Crux. If it's too late, this is better than changing OEM wiring.

The receiving connection for the Parking Brake wire in the Crux goes to another connection, incompatible with my head unit, and ultimately into the Crux circuitry. Since the circuitry did not appear to be compatible (nor was the connection previously mentioned), that seemed useless. I left the connection of this wire in the harness that connects to N25 (picture below). I then cut the wire coming out of that connection.

Based on the wiring diagram for the head unit, Pin 8 in N19 is a Body Ground. The connection to the Parking Brake wire needs to be grounded, so i routed it to this pin. The N19 connector has black, red, and yellow wires. I connected to the black wire (ground). I ended up changing this to a part of the frame through the dash.
Once you create the ground, you could put the car in ACC and play video with the parking brake off but it will still disable video once the vehicle starts moving.
    entune_n25_15_to_n19_8.jpg

For the Speed Wire, it's the green wire coming out of Pin 17 on N25 of the Crux adapter, going into the head unit. This then goes into the Crux interface/circuit board. On the other end of the N25 Adapter, which connects to the oem connection, the connection in the same position (pin 17) is blue. This also goes into the Crux interface/circuit board. I cut the green and blue wire, then ran each to a switch. At the time i took this photo, i did not have a switch.
    entune_speed_wire_to_switch.jpg

With these two changes, i can now interact with all Bluetooth, Navigation, and A/V connections while the vehicle is in motion, while i have the switch set to off. When it's set to ON, everything returns to the stock setup.

I have used the Crux Avity-01 unit first for the Vehicle in Motion (VIM) override for Entune navigation and more recently for mirroring an iPhone when using Waze, Gaia Maps and Google Maps.

I chose the Crux over the BeatSonic product due to the clean engineering by an established company: creation of an A/V audio input versus taking over the Auxiliary input; steering wheel control (SWC) integration versus a separate low-tech push button.

As I depend exclusively now on the phone navigation apps and remain too cheap to spring for a CarPlay head unit, I wanted to have the Avity VIM override on by default upon ignition rather than have to manually press the SWC each time I start the vehicle.

I used a simple circuit with a TR7 and a Bosch relay to simulate the pressing of the SWC on ignition.

The red circle in Avity installation guide is the circuit I am emulating.

    TR7 Wiring
    white, orange, brown: unused (open)
red, green: tap to cigarette +Vcc
    black: ground
blue: trigger wired to relay pin 86

Program TR7 feature #12, blue option 1 (delayed on) for 5 seconds. White and orange options unused.

    Bosch Relay Wiring
    85, 87A: ground
    86: blue trigger from TR7
    87: unused (open)
30: wire to Crux Avity orange/white SWC wire

A mod in the niche weeds but perhaps useful for someone else!
