Hands free steering wheel button to trigger Android Auto over Etune?

Just picked up my Tacoma yesterday, so I'm messing with a lot of the settings and features today. I'm a huge fan of Android Auto, and it was a big reason for getting the 2020.

One thing I'm unsure of is if there's a way for the steering wheel button that triggers hands free Etune options like calling or changing radio stations to instead trigger the Google Assistant when Android Auto is running. I assumed this would be the case, but can't seem to get that to work.

Worst case is you just have to say "OK Google" all the time, which isn't awful but is less consistent than just pressing the button.

 

I had the same issue with Apple Car Play. It was kind of pissing me off that I couldn't figure it out. The other day I was in the truck with my son, and he suggested that I press and hold until Siri activates. Well I'm embarrassed to say that it works.

Not sure about Android Auto, but give it a try.

 

If you hold long hold the voice command button it will launch into Android Auto.
