Sounds like nails rattling in a mentos box and dripping water
    Possibly vibration frequency dependant
    Felt through gas pedal

    Noticeable in these situations:
    1st and 2nd gear pull
    neutral
    neutral with clutch depressed

    2016 2tr 40k miles stock

It was the exhaust system. I jacked my cat and the sound went away.

What did you have to do to fix this? I had a similar noise and it was an exhaust leak that was causing AFR to go lean and cause pinging.

I didnt make any repairs. All I did was verify the source of the noise. I'm not sure how to proceed with the "repair" seeing that all components involved tight and proper. Maybe weld in a flex pipe section if I ever put work in the exhaust. In my case i dont believe I have a leak so probably just a fluke of design.

In had some rattling a year or two ago, turned out to be the heat shield over the rear cat. One of the bolts rusted and it was loose. I just removed the shield and all is good.
