The raw steel will rust pretty quick, so I’d pull that ASAP and paint it if I were you. Otherwise you’ll have to clean all the rust off whenever you get around to painting it in a couple months.

I'm still obsessing/researching the skid options, but am I correct in saying that the ones that are compatible with diff drops reduce ground clearance? I have zero intentions of lifting the truck beyond the 1" or so that swapping to a 3rd Gen OR suspension might give, so I'd like to pick a skid that stays tucked up pretty tight.

If you're worried about clearance and have a 2nd gen like your profile says, Id look into doing the exhaust re-route mod. So you can fit a T-case skid that doesn't have the big bump-out for the cross pipe on it. I cant really speak to the diff drop

It does sit a little lower but it’s a negligible amount, maybe 1/3”. Like @SR-71A said, getting the exhaust rerouted will have a much greater impact on overall clearance.

have used this skid plate on some pretty rough roads, knocking into several large 24" rocks (and bigger) which just about put the truck to a complete stop, and this plate has held up extremely well

My Aluminum skids have taken a good beating. Only down fall is the big hump for the exhaust. I plan to cut out pipes, move them higher and flat pan it.

How much lower does the hump sit compared to the flat section of the skid?

Im looking to add rci trans and tcase skids, already have the ifs. Debating chopping up the exhaust on my 18 or not...

I have a 2013 Regular cab 4cyl 5 speed 4x4. I can’t find skids to fit it. RCI and SOS off-road concepts says their skids won’t fit my truck. What gives? Are the crossmembers on the frame drastically different or something on my truck?

Apparently our transmissions are shorter so we're SOL unless we can find someone who can custom make them. If we do it's going to be a bit pricey.

What is the difference exactly? Is it only the front skid that fits?

I couldn't tell you the exact differences. When I saw your post I texted the owner to ask and that's what he said, that only the front will fit.
