My friend recently had his TRD skid plate stolen off of his 4Runner TRD Pro.. Scares me to think now someone could steal mine of my Taco. Is there any locking bolts that can be used on the Pro skid plates?

I would bolt a thin cable to it. Say about 15 ft long, and tuck the cable back into something so it’s hidden away. That way, it allows the thief to get up to maximum victory speed as he/she is running away with your skid plate, and at foot 15, kablammo. You’re done son, it’s OVER

Get some rust on those bolts they'll be hard to get off making your skid plate a pain to steal.

I would just stamp "I love dick" into it in all the visible areas. Would probably kill the resale value a bit. Or at least make it a little harder to sell.

Holy Cali, they'll steal anything won't they?!
You can only lock up so much, I'd guess this particular item doesn't get stolen often.

Until the manufacturers came up with a better way of securing winches quite a few were stolen. Especially when new before the nuts and bolts rusted up a bit. Most of us just drug out the welding machine and tacked the nuts on. Took a nut splitter to get them of. This took time and thieves rarely carried them. So tack the nuts and bolts.

I thought it was pretty genius myself. I just need to find a reasonably priced set of alphabet stamps now.

EDIT: I'd be willing to make them a community set if y'all are willing to chip in.

Take the truck rock crawling. When the heads of the bolts get smashed they will be unable to remove them! :)

Dumb thieves should've pulled his $800 Pro grille instead - held on with double-sided tape: https://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-OEM...blem-Badge-Nameplate-PZ32335056-/232480254579

Drill hole in skid plate and wrap a cable lock around the frame. But, if the person is out to steal skid plates, they probably have a bolt cutter too.

I use a security Torx whenever possible. My girlfriend's family owns a dealership and her car would always have it's dealer tags stolen in the city. Ever since I switched to a security Torx the problem stopped. Thieves out in Cali might be a little more prepared than those in the Midwest though :D

I'll bet steel ones are stolen less because they are a pain in the ass. They also don't look as "flashy" to someone driving by.
