Looking for a rifle that I'll be proud to own, and one that far more accurate than I'll ever need...lol

Currently leaning towards a CZ 457 (successor to the 452 & 455). Are there any other rifles I should look at, like the Savage Mark II TRR?

my Savage heavy barrelled is stupid accurate. mine is the SR-TR..or TR-SR(??). i did have to go thru some ammo to find out what it liked. luckily, the SV CCI is a crowd favorite. all in: vortex scope, Boyd stock to make it more adult sized friendly, i am right around $400.

having said that, if i could do the Jedi-Mind trick on my wife, i would buy myself the CZ 452 Grand Finale, and call it good.

I have yet to meet a .22 which is less accurate than i am. I mean my marlin 60 is extremely fun because its 15 shot tube fed and eats about everything and repeats to the same spot on the target. also have a M&P 22, still extremely accurate and can hold a 30 rd mag if your state allows. That being said, there is something about a bolt action so i know where youre coming from. But, i find with my 22's i just like to shoot the heck out of them. Trick is finding one that likes lots of diff ammo. My marlin is like that, m&p 22 can be picky but always shoots cci, but what doesnt.

There are a few .22 that are pretty accurate, several mentioned here. Over the years I have shot a few (In my 70's) the last few years CZ has been my go to .22. the 455 Ultra Match has become my favorite. Again finding the correct ammo is the secret, unfortunately the correct ammo is most always the spendy ammo. The 455 Ultra Match If you find one, would be a good choice without breaking the bank. jmop

    CZ 455 Ultra Match[edit]
The Ultra Match features a 24.8-inch (630mm) barrel, Bavarian-style stock and barrel-mounted tangent sights adjustable for elevation. The CZ 455 barrel utilizes 12 groove rifling intended to increase accuracy.

Go for it. Three times in the past I wanted to get an accurate .22, but let cost be a factor and settled for something less. I hear Anshutz makes some top of the line rifles. I know of one that tested (target included with the rifle from the factory) a 10 shot group at 55 yards that could be covered with a dime.

My reason for getting a .22 was to take it to shoot spring time sooty grouse in AK. The virus thing winds down, and I am penciling in a trip. I learned life is a fickle bitch, and I’m going.

hench my Savage. It’s accurate as hell, and fairly robust. I don’t worry too much about it traipsing thru the wet forest.

If you are chasing accuracy there is only so much you can do with .22lr even at 100yds there is some dispersion. I recently got hooked on .17hmr as it holds pretty good groups out to 200+yds alot more expensive and i love my .22s and will continue shooting them but theres just only so much you can do with them.

    I’d go CZ.

I have a Savage MKii FVSR and have run it in a manners T4 stock for years. It’s ok...that’s it. The mags suck. CZ is a great base to work from.

I've had both the Savage Mark II TR as well as a Ruger American. Surprisingly, I get better results with the Ruger. I liked it so much I added the 17HMR to the lineup and that has also proven to be a tack driver. The Rugers are quite affordable. Running Vortex Rimfire scopes on all.

Savage Mark II for sure. We just took it out today. My 6 year old can shoot it well.

Put a Vortex scope on it and practice good mechanics.

    Price range?
Cooper 57-M if you really want one of the best bolt action 22s you will never regret buying.
I passed a few years ago on a Browning M52 limited edition and still regret not buying it.
I have an older Ruger M77/22 that I had to shim and do a little trigger work but will probably never part with.
The CZs are good. Have not shot the newest model, but really liked the 452 mannlicher stock version.

Wow, that's very nice but a little out of my price range. But I love it!

I'm thinking more in the line of going up to ~$600.

I have the Savage FV-SR and Ruger American bolt rifle that takes the 10/22 mags. They are both threaded and excellent suppressor host. The stock on the Ruger is more comfortable for adults, but the trigger on the FV-SR seems a bit crisper, they are both excellent. I've had to replace the extractors twice on the FV-SR with under 10,000 rounds, but the warranty and customer service were quick and easy. I don't know which is better or more accurate but they are both great values and extremely accurate. Mags are better with the Ruger though and it's a lighter barrel profile for easier off handed shooting.
