I call it sharing. I have not seen any proof that what they call illegal download is hurting their pockets, I mean fatten their pockets.

It doesnt matter if you were using limewire before or after they made the program illegal. Peer to peer (P2P) file sharing is the actual cause for going to court and having to pay thousands of dollars for single songs downloaded. Having the program itself is virtually harmless

Just so everybody knows, torrents are a system for distributing data. One that allows each individual user to contribute bandwidth back to the distribution of whatever data the torrent is for. Although many people use them to distribute illegal data, as you don't need a powerful server like you do with most systems, there are also many legitimate applications for them. Most notably the distribution of opensource software.

I like this post and feel the same way.
I did not use limewire but napster back in the day. Wiped all of it.
I like collecting the CDs & vinyl ... the art is amazing, whoever owns it, the artists or record companies, it feels better to me when I buy it. Honestly, I get a lot of my music now at Goodwill or free at the recycle center ...lol

    Consider this:

I have about 10,000 songs on my computer. If I had to pay 99 cents per song I would probably only have around 1000. Now, does that mean I've stolen the other 9000 songs; or does that mean the bands have now gotten far greater exposure than otherwise? I've enjoyed their music and let friends know, gone to their concerts, bought, CDs, DVDs, and merchandise. Without free music sharing, this wouldn't have happened.

What they lose (* remember only potentially as the reach of most artist's music would be much narrower without music sharing) in song or CD sales, I feel they will make up elsewhere.

This helps the little guys, much more than the big names, where concert, show, and merchandise revenue are the main form of income. Free music sharing gets their music exposure on a scale not possible 10+ years ago.

someone beat me to tellin yall that the artists and bands dont even make any money off of cd sales and such unless it goes platinum. then they get pocket change.

but pandora is awesome and everyone should check it out.
