Hope you guys dont mind me jumping in here and asking a question. I've searched a few posts about batteries but most are pretty involved. My question is real simple.

Long story short, im trading in a Jetta TDi probably tomorrow and i dont want to leave that expensive deep cycle Optima yellow top in with the vehicle.

Anybody see a downside if i run that battery in a 2009 tacoma, stock.

    Thanks.

It will work great! I’ve used yellow tops for years, starting back when my truck was still in stock form. It would power my radio during tailgate parties and if I drank too much and let it die, no worries because after a couple more drinks it would be able to power back up and restart the truck for me.
It’s a solid lil upgrade that I highly recommend to others. Especially in your case you have nothing to loose from trying it, right? Good luck with everything!

No worries my man. Appreciate it when kind folks help me out from time to time, so I was happy to finally have an answer to someone’s inquiry lol.

Lot will have to do with how long ago you got the yellow optima. At some point optima got bought by Johnson controls. That point forward is a BIG step down. About 4 years ago I bought one, after a year it was already failing and weak. I limped with it for another 2 years then replaced with a interstate megaton. I had a red top last 14 years in 3 different cars. Too bad, those days are gone.
