Colbert/Stewart were great but their predecessors have been...not as great. Before that, those two were really good (biased, sure) but after that, no wonder viewing figures dropped off.

 

I am all for taking shots at either or both sides, if it's warranted. I know what I believe, and who represents it best, but I will not blindly follow them.

 

That's why I refuse to vote in the primaries. You have to register with a party affiliation.



Wife is grumpy about it - the metrics show where campaigns need to work their magic. Which, isn't that the opposite of what I want? Let's say I support Mr. T, if I went and voted for him in the primaries, that then shows Mr. B that my area needs more campaigning by Mr. B, giving him the lead.....So, even if I wanted to vote primaries, wouldn't I instead not want to vote in the primaries because it gives the opponents metrics to campaign in my area.....?

You're assuming political motivations are governed by honesty, truthfulness, and logic.

Let me suggest that such an assumption does not always seem to be correct.

 

I have an even bigger issue with this in my state...it's veeeeery one sided. My precinct is small. I know most of the people who work the polls. If I ask for a Rep. ballot BAM I would be immediately ostracized...The acquisition of primary ballots should be anonymous. There should be one ballot and the primary should be on the same day for both parties. You get the one ballot and at the top it says "Please select one candidate from one party any selection of multiple candidates or multiple parties will void your ballot" and then slide that sucker in the voting machine. You can anonymously vote the way the founding fathers intended. I really think based on my description of the issues in ultra-parisian communities we could get this to the supreme court

Question, MESOBLAST (MESO) has a trading halt as they have an announcement tomorrow about an equity deal. Is this good or bad for the price of the stock? They have been working on a vaccine with positive notes so far.

It looks like they wanted to lock a share price for a big offering??? It would suck to own shares and need $$ and want to sell

 

Our governor says we won't get to normal until a vaccine is developed, and even then it's a "new normal" whatever that's supposed to mean. He put out a super vague list of phases yesterday that basically gives no information--no timelines, no types businesses allowed to open in each phase, etc. Meanwhile, Indiana has a beautiful chart with dates, types of businesses, public health recommendations, etc and NY published what's basically a book on reopening. I've lost a lot of respect for Baker through this thing--it feels like he has no plan at all and we're going to be stuck with decisions based on Boston even though our numbers have been effectively flat for weeks. Cuomo is splitting up NY's reopening for that reason.

I also find the rules behind masks and the way people use them baffling and I believe it causes more harm than good, but I'll refrain from commenting too much on that for fear of getting too political.

On the bright side, my NVAX stock soared today!

I think that's exactly what it is. He has no idea what to do so the longer he can drag his feet the better chance the numbers look good and he can claim success. I really liked him before all of this.

It's just frustrating to be out here where it started out a little scary spreading fast but then tapered off and we've seen barely any new cases in weeks. I get that Boston is still not good, but we resemble Vermont and upstate NY better than Boston.

 

WHAT? Mass is all Boston.

RI is the guinea pig. We were behind by a few days during shutdown roll out, but we're the first to open. Probably Mass/CT are allowing us to go first and offering hospital support as needed if cases spike like a m@#$%(*&, RI also is dense in Providence/Warwick/Cranston area but once you get out to Foster/Coventry area it gets real rural, real quick, so we're a nice little slice of what would happen to reopening.

 

Lucky!! Will be close to 18months before that's allowed to happen here.
