So I had taken off my frontrunner rack about 2 years ago, and sealed up the holes with duct tape. Completely forgot about the holes and noticed right side of the car would have a leak forming a puddle of water whenever it rained and thought it was a problem with the windshield. Just discovered the tape over the holes had worn out and was letting water in.

Is there much to worry about in terms of water damage? Not sure where these roof rack holes lead to and if there could still be moisture built up inside. Is it worth taking things apart to check?

Take that tape off and get waterproof tape then cut it in size then insert the silicone around the holes then put waterproof tape on those. Once you have placed them, keep it in garage or under the shade for a few hours in order to dry and cure.

Then put the OEM weatherstrips on it so the tape won't hurt by the sun since the tape is under the weatherstrip.

Don't use duct tape for holes.. not good idea...

If you dry everything. so it should be fine..

You can check the "oh shit" handle/pillar off and dry everything. Put it back. Good to go.
