Sorry if this is Redundant I searched the hell out of this forum. I’m trying to get a pair of Ray 10s wheels. I’m running a 2020 tacoma off road No lift.

Assuming I have the correct specs should I get 16x8 wheels w 265/75/16 tires?

    or 17x8.5 wheels w 265/70/17

I’m being told by a dealer no newer tacos really mod to 16s??

    1. I want to “lift” the truck Slightly w the tire size wo actually lifting the truck for the look.

    2. I want minimal to no rubbing.

    3. I want the trans and truck to run mechanically smooth. This thing is hopefully gonna last Almost as long as my sweet 1st gen 2004 offroad did. (Still have it 230k mi)

    4. In Minimal offroad if ever.

thank you so much I’m stumped!!!

Either whee size would work with the tire you mentioned. They are about identical in size.

If you keep your stock wheels then it may be a good idea to get the RAY10’s in a another size so you have a dedicated summer/winter or street/offroad tire

You will likely experience rubbing on your stock mudflaps In the front and possibly the wheelwell at the cab mount because you are stock

Thank you chief and Spay, idk why the one dealer thought I was a tool
For suggesting 16s. It’s what I had on my 1st gen Lol.

The 17s will work fine. Both sizes are good but you have more choices for C load tires with 17s.
can’t go wrong with any if the SCS wheels.

@TacoBuffet i saw in another thread you commented that you thought the ray 10s looked best on stock suspension w the 265/75/16?? Over running the rays 17x8.5s on 265/70/17??
I’ve seen others say the 16s in ray 10s look Too small. But again I’m gonna be running stock suspension on the above tires so I’m amusing that adds into it.

you’ve owned em so I’m curious your opinion. I’m stuck only viewing pictures. Thanks brother.

Stock setup yes I prefer the 16'' on the OR, 17'' looks weird, too much rim too little tire. However I do like 17'' over 16'' if you are going to 285's. As I mentioned before you are going to have more options in tires going 17''

@TacoBuffet perfect. This is the answer I been scouring the web for. Na I’m running 265/75 w 16 or it was 265/70 w 17. My fear was w the 17s and that tire it could look too packed in wo a lift.
16s it is w 265/75/16 Ray 10s! Ill be tagging people after I upload pics.

Any opinions on grills. I’ve been looking but I only like the pro grill. The other after market ones like X-Trek etc are ehhh for me.

No prob! I like the stock 2020 off-road grille, I think the pro grille is overplayed and the raptor light thing is lame, but that’s gonna be an opinion thing.

@TacoBuffet yea I’m not doing raptor lights. Was just debating on the pro grill. The 2020 offroad grill does have a diff look to it. Step 1 I find some ray 10s and toss them on w the tires. I’m tinting out my windows some and tossing on protective paint film on the front end.

then black overlays when they come in and then I’ll take a look at it. Figure out if I’m gonna do the grill or not. Outside of that I’m tossing an automatic start in it and hopefully riding it to 300k lol

Sounds good. Do you have the premium package? If so it already has a remote start built in.

IIRC if you get the 17" TRD pro wheels you can use the 265/70r17 tires w/o rubbing. That and a pro grill is my plan once I feel like spending money on this truck again.

Just push the lock button three times holding last time till the lights flash. Or download the Toyota Connect App on your phone and use it from there (free for 6 months then subscription based).

Yep best part about my 2020, besides the LED headlights.
