Rear Wheel lockers engaged, slips to neutral.

When my lockers are on and im going up a hill often the truck will shift into neutral and the car will rev and ill start to go backwards. Anyone know why its automatically shifting into neutral? Starting to get annoying cause i have to restart my run at the hill...being a 2wd automatic

 

Since you have an automatic .... when you say it'll shift into neutral -do you mean the transmission shifter actually moves into neutral? Or does the shifter stay in drive when it occurs?

 

I don't see how the locker would affect the trans. Unless something is going on in the diff that is disengaging.

 

the whole shifter moves into neutral. ive tried to hold it back while giving it gas but it seems to really want to go. didnt want to hold it back too long and end up dead in the middle of the trail.

 

Damn that sounds real bad, Time to brain storm. What would cause your shifter to move, have you ever tried to wheel with the locker off and see if it would happen? Can you recreate this?

 

i thought for a while that it was just being rattled into neutral on the bumps, but then just going up dirt hills it did it. havent tried it without the lockers engaged yet. ill give that a shot tomorrow and see

 

I just can't seem to figure what would mover your shifter into neutral. Unless you were in some brush and got the linkage caught. Maybe if it does it see if you can put it in a lower gear to see what would happen.
