So as some of you may (or may not) know, I’ve been going back and forth about 285/75/17 vs 315/75/16 for months now.

    Mild Lift decided
Gearing & locker (rear) squared away
Not afraid to cut (already have)

I’m going st maxx in these sizes in whatever I chose so they weigh very close to the same as one another as well.

my question - in terms of more scrub radius on steering, suspension components, etc, is there going to be that big of a difference between 11.5 wide and 12.5 wide?

truck is my DD but mpg doesn’t mean jack shit to me. Dependability, however does. The steering rack issues people with 315s speak of is what concerns me most.

The skinnier tire has less surface area contacting the ground and will thereby reduce steering effort and stress on the steering system. If they are the same weight it will wear the same on ball joints and wheel bearings
