If I had a place, I’d stock up for a week or so, head there and hang out. I think the whole world is going to see some form of recession.
In my personal opinion, it would be a waste of the past months of staying at home, if we open up too quickly, then have fast spread of Covid, and then overwhelm the health care system. We need to continue to expose, and allow folk’s systems to build a defense. That is, if someone can’t be reinfected.

I thought I saw that changed, they could no longer force them. I could be very wrong though.

Other than this summer, I wouldn’t go to MDI area memorial thru labor.

Right, Eustis is about a 90-95% seasonal resident town that people only go up for certain things and their camps sit otherwise or get rented out. I know the road ours is on has maybe 1 or 2 full time resident camps of the 15 camps on the road. I know Memorial Day and 4th of July are quite busy for them. Otherwise it is on the slower side. Last year the trails were too wet to open for riding on Memorial Day weekend and the amount of people was far far less than a normal Memorial Day weekend

Yeah but the damage was done when it was spreading fast at the start is the issue. But that’s for NY!

I agree about what you said above about the economic pain. I also think as far as reinfection it’s like the flu sorta? You get it for the year and are done after. No idea how long it last tho obviously since this is all new.

we’ve though about going away for a bit too, I think they have opened the national lands again..

There was a mutation of the virus so there is the possibility of having it twice. Just like the flu, you get a flu shot and by the end of flu season its a mutated varient of that original flu vaccine

Which makes me wonder why waiting for the vaccine matters?

I can understand slowing the spread from hot spots and that’s what Maine is trying to do I suppose. But if it’s going to mutate which most do, one vaccine won’t fix it right?

I’ve been wondering about wait for vax as well. First and foremost, I’ll be fighting people to be at the end of that line. I won’t trust it for a while. Second, Maine rural areas could not handle much. And lots of workers in the tourist industry, live in those rural areas.
Anyone seen how things are going in Sweden at this point. They took a very different approach.

Half of Maine's employees for the summer are from Russia and the Eastern European countries too. I think that's part of why Funtown called it when they did, because they were going to have to start that process back then to get half their workforce.

It would protect against one variant of it, and possibly reduce symptoms of the other variant. Their is a lot of variables that go into it and how people react differently to the virus

Also true, last year or so places have struggled to get people to work anyways.

I thought NY and CT had the rules? I travel in and out of MA/RI everyday, multiple times a day. I've seen no attempts by either state to stop anyone traveling.

    Ny isn’t New England :D

Yeah mass and connecticut had requests or guidelines. Maine and RI had rules that said you shall quarantine. Nobody is enforcing it, but there is a difference. NH I think the same just a guideline and VT I’m not sure about to be honest.

yeah it’s not enforced but it’s a rule vs guideline I guess.

although I have been driving around my town a bunch the last couple days, and I have seen the locals at least 5 times each of the last few days. Normally I may see them once a week, maybe twice if I drive by their normal hang out on Main Street spot.

China does not include asymptomatic cases in its overall tally of confirmed cases

Wtf. So the people who test positive and recover without a problem aren’t even being counted. Not to get political but even in China, too. So we can’t trust the number they’re putting out which are falsely inflating the death rate by design.

    :annoyed:

I’m not one to protest or anything usually but I’m getting close to going down to the state house to protest for reopening :rofl::rofl: this all is starting to stink a bit. And it’s not just my 5 day old face mask I’ve been breathing into I with stank breath.

I know NY isn't New England. But at one time some people had mentioned needing papers to enter NY, CT, and NJ :notsure:
