    UGH, you just reminded me i NEED to do this (had cam gears sitting in my tool box since november?), and in order to do this.... i need to get me valve cover gaskets etc coming.....

    Per our guy Kiel at Kelford -yes you can run both. Per URD- you can't. Kiel said it moves the powerband lower by running them with the Kelford cams, URD doesn't offer an explanation as to why you can't do both. Personally I trust Kiel more and am willing to try it

    I believe @Athlaos is running the urd cam gears with his kelford cams, but he is still running his truck without the blower belt

    That’s how I always saw it in that each cylinder would have more volume for the intake charge.

    I don’t see how these exhaust cam gears would up our boost though. @12TRDTacoma

    I'm trying to think this through from an engineering perspective and I am no expert on the subject matter, so I could be totally off.

    Let's see, so cam gears offers a more complete burn by hanging the exhaust valves open a little bit longer. A more complete combustion event in other words. By removing the cam designed built in EGR you are allowing for cooler cylinder temps, you are also allowing for better airflow (which makes sense based on the fact that there is more air moving through the engine by allowing the exhaust valve to hang open a little bit longer.

    I used to push 11.5 psi nominal and 12 was absolute peak. Considering I am 13.3 now and the engine feels like it has more go throughout the band I am (in my non expert opinion) venturing an educated guess in saying that the boost numbers I am seeing now are normal and a byproduct of the gears retardation of the cams. Could I improve airflow by removing my topped out exhaust system flow at the headers and at the Y pipe? Absolutely... Is there a chance that boost numbers will drop off once those items are installed and in play? Absolutely... Do I think cam gears ups the boost regardless of flow whether or not there is a restriction and I ran a 2.3 with them in my own truck and ran an identical truck without them? I still do.

    That's fine but keep in mind this is Texas not Norcal so the later in the summer we plan for means hotter than HAF weather.

    The potential upside is I can have more y-pipes made so peeps could save on shipping AND possibly get an install on mod weekend.

    Also, for those with tuners, we could retard VVTI 3° across its active range which would keep valve overlap the same as oem.

    I've played a bit with VVTI but no definitive testing done.
