Inspect Smittybilt X20

    Installed Smittybilt X20 10 months ago and I found both brackets for the top mounted control box are rotted already. Hopefully this thread encourages people with the Smittybilt to inspect that their control box is secure. This defect could have serious repercussions if constant power is supplied to winch. Frayed cables and electricity do not mix well. I didn’t bother contacting Smittybilt because chances are they will just send the same crap to replace rotted piece. I will be making a bracket out of 1/8” steel to secure the control in a different location since there is ample room behind grill.
