Gun mount in truck

Hey all!! Just purchased a magnetic mount for my pistol in my 2011 Tacoma but now I’m not to wild about drilling holes to mount this thing and I really don’t think 3M tape is gonna hold it through the Vegas summer heat so send me info & pics of where you’ve mounted yours. Thx all. Cheers!!

 

I haven’t done it but I’ve seen where some guys use Velcro.

 

That'll peel of the dash in notime. Adhesive velcro and Vegas / Utah heat aren't super compatible.

Edit: Not tryin to bust heads here, just sayin that the dash mount requires a draw and a reholster every time you get in&out. Statistically, that's inviting a greater chance for a problem to arise be it a perilously snagged shirt or a nervous nelly panicking and phoning an MWAG call into dispatch with no obvious upside.

Your truck is not a holster. Remember that. Drawing and reholstering every time is one thing but just imagine getting in a wreck with your pistol there.

 

I like this for long highway miles but otherwise it stays put.

Just another thing to think about, you will increase your chance of forgetting to take it out of the truck. Which I'm sure A LOT of people have done, even without a truck-mounted holster.

Besides that, if you park on the street and some tweeker is looking inside your truck, they could see your nice truck pistol holster(depending on placement) and then figure "this guy has guns". Which may deter them from messing with you, but perhaps they wait until you go to work and check out your house!

I never advertise to the public that I am a firearms enthusiast. I concealed carry as opposed to open carry in the public, and I don't put any firearm stickers on my truck. Keeping a low profile can be a good thing.

There are a few threads about locking center console options that bolt down, that may be closer to your best option. Personally, I like a nice secure holster attached to the bottom area below the steering wheel for quick access.

 

It’s not a Holster.. it’s a magnet that will be next to my right leg which needs no “upholstering” but thx for the message.

 

I agree but I never EVER leave my gun in my truck or advertise that I have guns. Just something for protection and I don’t like leaving it on my hip or in the front of my waistline because it’s hard to get too if you need it quickly due to the seatbelt, shirt, pants etc etc which is why I purchased this which is a rubber coated magnet made for holding guns in a vehicle but I guess I didn’t think it through the well enough as it takes 2 screws to hold it in place. I’ll figure something out but just looking for thoughts. Thx for the compliment on my

So it's even worse. Nothing at all covering the trigger guard and just the power of the magnet holding it in case of an accident. I just can't imagine any situation where I would want that.

I don't plan on it but if I can help one person today realize that off body carry inside your truck is a big no-no I will count that as a win.

 

Keep it holstered. Don’t tape it to your truck cause you don’t want someone having easy access to it with no resistance.
