Yep, that one is getting the razor and re-tied for sure.

This lake is literally within sight of Kamloops, but they would be stocked Pennask Rainbows.

Well that was an interesting read :)
    https://www.gofishbc.com/Blog/About-Us/Understanding-the-Origin-of-Pennask-Rainbow-Trout.aspx
so they’re wild fish native to one BC lake that are captured and milked/stripped and the subsequent fry are popped in the hatchery at which point they cull the males and breed the females to other females that underwent forced hermaphroditism creating sterile triploid female fish for put and take lakes. They do look to be some quality fish :)
That’s what I love about this particular subforum lol
everybody’s catching trout from all over the place but they’re all completely different trout with different back stories :)

Yep, main thing is Pennasks eat bugs only and the other kind we get stocked with are Blackwaters and they eat bugs and little fish.

So don’t bother with minnow patterns in a Pennask lake but try it for a Blackwater lake..

The past few weeks have been decent on the Bow at times.

But the water has been fluctuating, so its time to take the boat out of hibernation and head off to find something toothier in the morning...

Anyone ever see a roof mount rod box that would work for spinning reel setups?
Fully enclosed like the flyrod boxes so I don't have to worry about driving under low tree branches on the way out to the river.
When I have all the kids with me with their gear, I can't put rods inside the 4Runner because I don't trust where their little feet might go. (we use the 3rd row seat so no cargo space basically)
So far, I've locked a rifle box onto the roof rack but that means breaking down each rod every time we need to drive again. Also limits the size of rod somewhat. I'd like a tube type roof storage where I could leave the rods fully assembled full length to grab and go before the kids get distracted and start playing in the dirt.

Spinning reels sit too far forward on the rods for the DIY ammo box style deal.

you could probably make one really cheap. 8’ length of 3” pipe, then some fittings to accommodate the size of the reels on the back end.

I’m still clearing the morning fog and allergy issues from my head. Two hours or so and I’ll be up to speed.

That's the ammobox DIY I was talking about that doesn't fit.
Rather, none of the more common ammo box sizes are deep enough.

But maybe I can borrow from that concept to weld up some sheet metal and make a box the right depth.
