Hey all! I just bought my first Tacoma which had always been my dream car, and don’t know much about working on cars, but I do know what I want it to turn into. First thing I’m trying to do is put a leveling kit on it for the front end, if anyone could give me recommendations and info on what it all entails I would really appreciate it!

    Welcome to TN!

I have a suggestion for getting into working on your Tacoma. Invest in a "metric" set of tools. Most kits have metric and SAE tools in the same kit, and that's great, but you won't use the SAE tools. Once you get those, you can buy other pieces, like screwdrivers, pliers, etc. as you need them.

Next step, start searching YouTube for maintenance procedures. Whatever you're thinking about doing, you can bet there are multiple people who have recorded videos of them doing the same procedure. After watching the procedure, you can determine if you want to attempt it. They will usually tell you what tools you'll need to do it. That will let you know if you need to buy a new tool. Remember, for every tool you buy to do a procedure, that's more money you'll save down the road when you need to do it again.

I normally recommend buying a factory service manual, but Toyota has split that into something like 5 volumes, and the price for the set is outrageous. There may be a aftermarket service manual that's useable, but I haven't found one yet.

My #1 suggestion is to put your money into the factory recommended servicing before buying "modifications." You want to continue having a long & unexciting relationship with your Tacoma. :)

Good luck, and welcome to the community!
