Thought it might be handy to have a thread, admittedly very similar to the Tools thread by @Crom , but sorted by the job you're doing.

For instance, I recently did a U-joint job (DS u-joints), so maybe the list would go like this:

Thanks to @TnShooter and OP of the following:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Driveshaft U-joints:

    14mm sockets and wrenches
    Press
    Small screwdriver
    Needlenose
    Paint marker
    Channellocks
    24mm socket
    Grease
    Files
    Torque wrench
    Hammer

    Center yoke = 134 Lbs – loosen one turn – 51 Lbs
    Flange bolts/nuts = 65 Lbs (good luck)
Center bearing bolts to truck = 27 Lbs …single hole down

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Oil change:
14mm wrench or socket...may need a breaker bar
    Oil filter wrench
    Oil catch pan
Small water bottle to catch oil from filter drain can...or 5/16 hose to bottom.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

From @jspadaro from 2011...just saw it lol.

    Front Diff & Transfer Case
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Might add more as time goes on, but just an idea. Feel free to add more or correct/add to mine...I'll edit the OP as needed.

I don't think it's necessary to specify things like rags, gloves, ratchets for your sockets, other "normal" things you're going to have with you all the time, but if you want to include every single thing needed for a job, I will add it to the OP exactly as you write it.

If we start to get a big list I'll try to keep it alphabetical as best I can.

I have the same problem lol. I even think to myself "I need to make a list of what I needed and maybe even go back after I'm done and mark off all the shit I only THOUGHT I needed"...but then that little devil on my shoulder says "Ahhh, don't worry about it right now...you'll remember later". But I rarely do.
