Sorry for the rant but I’m getting tired of going into the woods and packing out trash that isn’t mine.

I camp, hunt, fish, shoot and hike. I love the outdoors and want to be able to keep using these areas that we have. It is especially frustrating to go shooting for instance and know that the wife and I must plan on bringing at least a garbage bag with us, most of the time its a couple Rubbermaid totes to load up not only our trash but other people trash that they think its ok just to leave up there.

Same with camping and fishing lots of trash not being picked up and thrown away. It’s super easy to take a trash bag with you or even something smaller and just toss it away when done at either your house or even a store or rest area on the way out of the woods...

This post isn’t covid19 related as I have seen trash getting worse and worse, so much so that the wife and I saw a bunch of paint just dumped at our local shooting area... WHAT THE HELL!! I went fishing a couple of weeks ago and saw cans and worm containers and plastics everywhere, including tons of line like someone’s reel took a shit and he just pulled it all off... and this unfortunately is the norm now!

Am I perfect HELL NO! Am I better then you... NOPE, But I was taught young to pack out what I packed in and now it seems like I’m packing out 2-5x more then what I packed in...

People wanna scream about freedom and liberty but yet don’t know how to handle the responsibilities that come with it.

Pics are from the last outing.... we only had a garbage bag but probably could have filled up my truck bed.

It's a big problem out here especially in the desert. I was up in the mountains last winter with a group of TW guys running the trails, when we got to the end there was an area off the side of the road where a family was pulled over playing in the snow with their kids. They packed up and left, and as they drove away we saw 3 big trash bags they just left there completely open/untied. Was a windy day and immediately a bunch of trash started blowing all over the place. Was really shitty. We picked up as much of it as we could and crammed it into our Trasharoo bags to take down the mountain.

People generally suck when it comes to cleaning up their own trash.

I’m not into point fingers at people I’m trying to get people to be part of the solution.

I totally understand the needing to vent about this topic.

My local off-road group used to police local trails around my area. One outing, three of us had 18’ trailers and took several trips each to clean up a trail/shooting range. The trail was no more than a dirt road and could be accessed with a FWD car.

Three weeks later it was trashed again. That was the last trail and area cleanup I did for areas I don’t frequent. We do trail maintenance on a little tougher trails that not any idiot can access. We let this easy access trail go, and finally it closed due to trash and a shooting death. It was for the best

I do believe your tread is falling on deaf ears though. I would be willing to bet the sorts of people that do these things are not a part of any off-road community.

I would focus more energy on education and enforcement. Pictures of license plates and trash go a long ways.

I’m sure it feel like it’s falling on def ears and yes some people already organize clean ups of trails but there are a lot of people that still hunt, fish and hike in here and my rant was more about leaving the trash behind from what activity people are doing.

Also, fuck any piece of shit that thinks it's ok to break glass bottles at campsites. There's a special place in hell for assholes that do that sort of stuff.

Also, if you are going to go shooting, lay a tarp down to catch your casings instead of littering the forest with them.

Pack out your trash, pick up your brass.

I rolled through a camping area used by RVs out in the desert recently and almost freaked out when I realized how much broken glass I was driving on. If you're coming out with a big trailer you of all people have the room for a couple bags of trash when you leave. I'm just out there with my shortbed and packing it away...

All they need is a few aluminum cans to find an excuse to lock the gates.

I worked with a guy that kept bugging us to show him a good fishing spot near us. We finally took him to where we would go. He then proceeds to throw beer bottles into the lake...i yell at him, "wtf you doing!?!" Hes like what? I said, people go swimming here later in summer....and when the water comes down you will see the stupid beer bottles...me and buddy were pissed. We always said we were busy when he asked to go again..
