What's your configuration for sleeping, storing, and using your space? I'm waiting for a Craigslist guy to respond about a softopper and I'm already trying to draw out how I'll organize everything.

I'm particularly interested in what you folks have been doing with the backseat area (including storage spaces).

New to the truck + new to non-ground tent camping so just excited to see what you all have done and maybe borrow some cool ideas. I will have a dirt bike on a tow-hitch carrier too, just to keep in mind. Post up a picture! Here was my GF and I making our escape to a friends parcel out in Los Padres Natl Forest. 20200425_063137.jpg

Is there a subforum I missed for camping? Any experiences/advice welcomed!

Why not just sleep in the squarish tall building there?

Right? We were a party of 6, when our friend who owns the land comes he and his gf of course take the tiny house. If we're out there on our own its up for grabs.

I sleep in the back of mine with a nice sleeping pad and bag. 70 pound dog in there too with her bed down by my feet and there’s room for her without getting in my zone. @mattgecko’s warm white LEDs making everything real homey back there. All under the softopper of course. It’s cozy, but it works exceptionally well.

I am 6'4" and I sleep in the back with the small tent that Softopper sells so I can put the tailgate down. There is no way I could fit in this bed without the tailgate down. I also carry one of the Slumberjack roadhouse tarps with the mesh and sometimes I will just use that if conditions allow.

I use a large plastic tool box for most of my gear that lives in the truck https://www.amazon.com/Buyers-Produ...1&keywords=truck+chest&qid=1589827780&sr=8-17

has most of my gear in there, but I end up bringing a bit more... I lock the box through the wheel and store under the bed of the truck.

I though about building a platform but I like the headroom.

Sorry just realized this thread is for long bed trucks... still the small softopper tent might be nice! 6 foot is still kinda small for sleep if you ask me

Hi! I am sorry I do not have a pic if my set up, but here is a link to it.

    https://www.softopper.com/camper-tent

It's been great out here in western Colorado, I had an RTT before this and didn't feel the extra weight was worth it for me. We get some nasty wind storms out here and being in the bed has been nice.

Happy to see some conversations in here. Thanks for the info on the softopper setup! And also thanks for the link to the video for yours! Going to see about what size containers ill want since a tradesman camper shell is out of the picture for I :-0
