Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
the pipe cutter with numerous turns and slow tightening works. I ran a sacrificial bolt through mine when I cut it to keep it from hopping around.

Just use some aluminum cutting oil to help and make sure your cutter is for aluminum. I was skeptical but once it scores the line it hold pretty true. It does make it a bit funk holding it. I had it in a vice. I would suggest if you can adding something on the sleeve to not mess it up. My vice did a bit since it was not "soft". I buffed it out with a dremel and cleaned up where it cut.

Also I flipped it over when I installed it but either should work. The lip from the cut did require some cleaning up as it was just enough to not let it slide in, but overall, solid and flush with no play. I did use a bolt/washer as you noted.

that would have been a nice touch. Mine did not move but would prob have helped with the cleanliness of the cut at the end.

I used a copper pipe cutter. Worked just fine

Good to know. I had to buy one so I just made sure it handled aluminum and the size. That Rigid one works well and recommended by @12TRDTacoma as he used the same.

Yeah you really just have to go slow and understand the area of the cut will flare outward just a smidge from all the cutting you are doing. Finish it off with a nice belt sander or some 120 grit sandpaper and you are good to go!

I was fully catless, DTLT and custom y-pipe and Borla muffler and also URD spec.U long tubes and spec.U equal length exhaust. I can't say as if my boost numbers went down because I was DTLT's and custom y-pipe before the supercharger. I can say that when I did that without the supercharger I lost a bunch of bottom end torque but it ripped up top. I now have two MagnaFlow high flow cats welded into the spec.U to help tame the noise. did almost nothing.

So down low it basically felt ball-less but up top it was a ripper huh?

High flow cats are more like resonators more than anything, and horrible ones at that because as you mentioned they do almost nothing.

@hx989 here is a real world example of what we were talking about earlier.

URD spec U's.. Fully catless.. into custom y pipe.. into 3" with the biggest magnaflow I could fit.

as soon as I removed the last 2 cats.. boost dropped 1-2 lbs. pulls like a mofo now tho in the mid-higher range.. I like and dont like it.. I like low end.

So you removed the main two at the manifolds first and then you removed the final two at the Y pipe which helped you drop 1-2 lbs psi? Do I have that right?

If that's the case, that implies that the rear cats are restrictive as well.

Dude... If that's the case I may just create my boost bypasses at the Y pipe cats then instead. And quit worrying so much about the main cats and just do headers to further open things up.

Agreed. Powerband definitely shifted after removing the rear cats.. and I can absolutely tell while on the trail. Big change.. and honestly like it better for wheeling with the cats.
