Same here. Rather have the correct size slip nut and bolt included in the kit.

I believe @KTJO 4x4 said that it would be, along with the rivnut option.

Just an aside, the dark theme looks great. We're working on a native one to be deployed sitewide.

    Thanks!

Native TW dark mode would be excellent. Thanks for working on that.

Thanks for the updates Katie! Can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

For 1 Rivnut, you don't need to buy the tool. They can be installed pretty easily without it. Have done several over the years. There are numerous videos on Youtube. You just need a bolt, washer, and nut. A flat pc of metal can substitute for the washer and does work a bit better but not necessary. By all means buy the tool if you think you have a future use. The one at Harbor Freight looked so cheaply made, I didn't buy when needing to install them in the past.

Also see no issue with using a clip nut if it has the proper threads similar to the one pictured in post 714. Once tightened, it's not going anywhere. People are over thinking this.

What’s if feeling like Katie? Better than what you expected? Or it still needs some work on it?

Pre-ordered on 3/27/20. Order# 1677986972, I don't see it on the first page of this thread though.

Rivnuts can easily be installed without a specialized tool. The bolt/nut trick works fine.

I am very impressed that Toyota didn't came up with a solution for the second hole for this handle and they are mass producing it as is, very unlikely from them to do so, weird...o_O.

The upper hole is used to attach the existing pillar trim. Not installing a rivnut in the lower hole saves money. Probably $0.05 for the rivnut, plus the machine or human installation time? If machine, someone would have had to spend money programming the process.

Over 750,000 Tacos, that saves them minimally $350,000.

In the auto industry pennies add up. About 10yrs ago, it was said that spending an extra $5 on a car's interior would be a noticeable difference for the owners.

True, but they still lose money on the bracket that is still there, and the welding time to attach it!

Very true there. IIRC, the handle was removed late in the development, just prior to sales release. Possibly making a bracket change in the back shop might have been too big for the potential cost savings?

Am glad that they didn't or this upcoming mod would not be as practical.

Everything you need will be in the kit. All you would need is the gun. It is just like MESO’s Overhead Molle Rack.

He suggests this Rivet Insert Tool

    https://www.amazon.com/Surebonder-8510-10-24-Threaded-Insert-x/dp/B0003J2B5A/ref=sr_1_3?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1540957790&sr=1-3&keywords=rivnut+tool

You think you will only use it one time and that is all, but I also used it to mount my chase lights from SDHQ and a few other accessories. You find ways to use this fun new toy. I mean anywhere you are installing something new that you need to insert threads to screw into in order to mount something you can use it. It’s definitely worth the $20-$30.

Like I mentioned in my post, I will include both options for my customers to make the package reach a variety of my customers. However, I would suggest going this route. That does not mean you have to go this route.
