If you guys had a bad lower ball joint and had 95k on the clock, would you

    A. Pull LCA and swap new ball joint and bushings

    B. By aftermarket full LCA assembly

    C. Buy OEM assembly @ $371 each?

You would have to get ahold of the OP on the group buy in which the price can’t be disclosed publicly.

I've done fine on Moog aftermarket LCA's I believe. LBJ is a PITA to replace and bushings are even worse. Not worth it at all imo

You can get OEM LCA's for less than 371 each. I think I found them at a few dealerships online for around 275 each. Aftermarket LCAs are pretty though.

I did a pair of MOOG LCAs about a year ago because it was cheap and easy. They seemed about the same as my original although I doubt the ball joints themselves are of the same quality. But I already have upper ball joints in Camburg arms and they're at least greaseable. So far nothing to report exceptionally good or bad.
Can you at least say whether it's low enough to be an alternative to ~$600 for a pair of OEM LCAs?

Seems like a lot of work, Just replace the joint by itself. Rent a separator tool from a parts store

The BJ is pressed into the arm and the tapered shaft into a bracket that's bolted to the spindle. The PITA is pressing them in and out of the arm itself and Toyota doesn't sell a BJ replacement. They only sell you a whole arm. The aftermarket has just replacement ball joints though.

It's not that bad to replace the ball joint. A rental press kit from the auto parts store and a powerful impact and it'll press them out with no problems. To get the steering stop off I just take a hammer in each hand and simultaneously whack each side. Bushings are a bit trickier. You can try the torch and bottle jack method, or just completely burn them out and cut the sleeve out.

Yeah, the 86-04 lower BJs were easier to replace with the 4 bolts holding them to the spindle. We just had that irritating issue of them being in tension and dropping the truck on the deck when they failed. I managed to survive 15 years driving a truck with that old style IFS without dying though. ;-)

I slapped in some whiteline bushings and the latest moog BJ's into my LCA's - the moog bushings in the moog LCA's wouldn't last a year on my truck..

When you install whiteline bushings it converts the LCA's to non loaded/stressed bushings which i think is the big downfall of OEM/Moog LCA's
