A few muddy pics, cause I’m dying to get back out exploring!

On your cap rack, what hardware are you using or used to put in the factory rails? I am building my own and trying to find what I need.

The shell came with Thule rails pre-installed. From there, I used the mounting feet that came with the Prinsu Top Rack.

Finally got the tent mounted up. Let me tell you, a long-handled ratcheting wrench is your best friend when using the basic RTT mounting hardware.

 

Yes understand the rails came with the shell, but what hardware did you put in the rails to sucure the prisu to it? the feet secure to something, I just to know what I need to buy so I can finish mocking mine up.

Ah, I gotcha.

The rack came with some square nuts that slide into the Thule rails, like the ones pictured below.




After you slide the square nuts into the rails, you can mount the Prinsu feet, which then attach to the rack's rails.

 

Perfect, that's what I needed. Knew about the feet but since I am making mine won't need them. Did you get the nuts and bolt pic from CBI's website?

 

No, I couldn't find the mounting hardware on their site. I Google'd "Thule rail mounting hardware". The Prinsu feet required two square nuts each, eight total.

Came out to $2800. The windoor came with screens. I have a slider on the other side. Also added in some cargo hooks, thule tracks, remote entry, LED tube lights and removable front slider. A few other places out here in Southern California were quoting me over $3k for the same setup.

 

Truth.......i usually Just take the side panels off use the wrench and then put them back on so i can fit my hand in there. Looks clean but tight fit.

 

Yeah you need two of those flat square A nuts per mounting foot.

 

What are you mounting that spare tire with? Looks great.

I am running the Yakima aero bars installed from ARE. The bars right now are currently quarantined in my Parents’ shed in Vermont while my Taco is quarantined in Maine. I don’t know how accurate my measurement would be for you at the moment. Depending on what you’re running for attachments I’ve actually found the windshields to create more drag and there’s no fuel savings whatsoever with it, just looks. If you’re looking for a measurement between the two foot holds I could get you that.

 

Hey guys, I’m new to the truck life and am enjoying the dry storage and security the shell provides.
My only problem with owning this shell is that i worry it will crack with weight on top.

Id like to install a prinsu style rack, but im concerned that off roading with fire wood or an RTT on the shell could cause it to crack.

Do yall have any experience with this?
My shell is an ARE v series (base model/non reinforced)

 

Use common sense and you will be fine, nice rig.
