Flounder season opens Friday. After always borrowing whatever extra reel was on my father or FILs boats, I'm determined to get my own setup this year.

Currently looking at a Diawa BG reel, but not sure if I should go 2500 or 3000 size.

I'm considering just getting the Daiwa BG inshore combo, but the rods that come in each kit seem under-powered for what the reels are capable of. I'd prefer the 2500 reel on the 3000-combo's rod.

Instead of the combo, also considering the Tsunami TSCS MH Classic Spinning Rod and pairing that with the 2500. Anyone have insight on if that rod would have enough feel for back-bay fishing as well?

The BGs run big. A 3k BG is like a 4k shimano.

Yeah I've heard that a few times now. That's why I'm thinking the 2500 would pair with a 10-20# rod.

Go look up John Skinner on YouTube for a good Flounder fishing tutorial.
