Hate to bring up yet another one of these topics, but here's my issue.

Friend drove truck and backed over a big rock. Totally crushed the factory 7 pin connector. I checked with Toyota but they wanted 300 bucks for a 2' pigtail plus the 7 pin connector (plug-in replacement for factory tow package). Decided "no go" on that. I examined the crushed connector and wires that go to the junction in front of the rear bumper. Everything was a pass-through, no electronics or anything odd in the connector.

So, I went to NAPA and bought a 5 pin flat connector (towing a boat and need reverse light to avoid locking disc brakes when backing). I cut the tow connector off of that pigtail and wired it directly, matching colors (there were obviously two unused wires, which were also not passed to my trailer before the "crushing). Got no power. Thought "OK, must have done something wrong in the wiring I did. As a sanity test, I disconnected the pigtail from the truck wiring, turned on tail lights, and no single pin in that harness connector has any voltage when measured to ground. And yes, I confirmed that the white wire is ground and is dead solid (0.00 ohms to frame).

So, off to the fuses. I only found a couple, both 30 amps. One kicks the tow relay (and when I pull it out and insert it I can hear the relay click.) The other just says "towing" and it ohms out good. Swapped with another 30a fuse to be sure, and no power still.

I have read a couple of threads here, but none seem to apply. This is a 2007 prerunner DCSB 4.0. Some mentioned a group of fuses behind driver's side rear seat. None on mine. A couple mentioned fuses behind driver's tail light. As I looked at photos, those were obvious aftermarket converter boxes. Yes, I checked. Nothing there.

I'm convinced this is either a fuse (most likely) or somehow the converter box was blown. Are there any other fuses to look for besides the two under the hood that have "towing" in the labels?

    Thanks...

My 06 Prerunner has a fuse specifically for the trailers tail lights in the regular fuse box under the hood. Mine does have the factory tow package.
