Toyota Tacoma vs. Nissan Frontier

I've owned both. I liked my Frontier well enough, but I love my Tacoma. They Fronty interior feels dated and the exterior styling, while not bad, isn't up to par with the other mid size trucks. However, it's very capable off road and it's a great value. That turning radius is brutal though.

 

I think the Frontier is a hell of a good looking truck, but FREK me, those wheel wells
I’m not able to get past them, to big on aesthetics, and Tacoma has that part nailed, the reliability is nice too

 

Meh, my '10 Pro-4x has the 6MT, the truck has been completely reliable.

 

The Frontier feels like a car or small suv when driving. The Tacoma feels more like a truck and better looking. I drove a Frontier 6 months everyday for work and now have owned a Tacoma for just over a year.

 

outside of price, the tacoma wins just about every category

imo, if you need it to do truck things (haul, tow, offroad), it's the tacoma hands down. if you like the truck style and mostly want a daily driver, the frontier's a good value option

 

What's with the 3rd gen guys bumping old threads in the 2nd gen forum........

 

This thread may be dead, we went with a Frontier for many many reasons, one major one being price. We replaced our 2002 4Runner with a '14 Frontier Pro-4X with a Stillen Supercharger. I actually really like that the interior and electronics are outdated, it's a simple truck that has less computerized pieces that can fail when we're off-roading in the backcountry which we do a lot. The fuel economy sucks but it's about on par with what we had before in our 3rd gen Runner, and the turning radius is atrocious. Aside from that we are really happy with our choice. I'm sure we would have been just as happy with a Tacoma. They're both fantastic trucks. It is nice to kind of stand out and be different in the overlanding community because Tacomas are a dime a dozen, though.
