I’m trying to dodge having a switch in the cabin since I have exhausted all of my open slots for all of my LED lights. What’s the gauge on Smittybilt’s positive power cable? I might try the circuit breaker route at 500 amps

I can't answer your question. I know you didn't ask, but another option, if you just want a power on/off under the hood, could be something like this. I think that one is 600a continuous, but they make a 300 amp.

There is no power switch on the Smittybilt X20. But the switch for my power interrupt solenoid is to a switched 12v power, so it goes off when ignition is off.

Yeah, that's the reason I installed an STech Switch. Little extra $ , but my the time you add up all the wiring and cost of switches, it's not too bad.

OME 2" medium load range lift SSO slimline front bumper w/ Heisse 20" light Smittybuilt X20 10klb winch with synthetic rope RCI rock sliders. CBI front skid plate
This is how I see it:
There is really no need for an additional power cut-off switch. The X20 is supplied with a 500 amp solenoid to do that job. The max winch current draw is 380 amps so it's handled. The problem with the winch spooling when not commanded by the operator can occur if the the wireless is always activated and other wireless transmissions could possibly confuse it.
Best to leave it turned off until needed, and to check that everything is clear in the pulling senario before activating and starting the remote command.

New topic and heads up. I just noticed that the mounts for mounting the control box on the side have broken on mine. These are the little black mounts, not the shiny aluminum ones. Anyone that used these may want to make sure they aren't broken. Now I have to remount the control box.

I used my center mount, if I can find my similar side mount, I'll send them to you

Thanks for the heads up! I always thought that was a poor design in general...

I mounted mine right in the middle and just trimmed that bracket with some sheet metal shears seems sturdier in the middle to me.
