I was really hoping they'd put the darn thing on for me when I had them replace the windshield. I even asked them to.

I stumbled across the perfect wire cover for this swap.

The one I had before was big and fat, didn’t have the OEM look or fit.

The 2017 4runner Gentex wire mirror cover is flat and smaller and fits great.

I did have to cut 1/2” or so off both inside ends because my mirror is higher on the windshield.

Did you use an additional/alternative arm or shim on the mirror to mount it at the proper angle on the windshield? I'm installing the BOYO VTM43TC in an '03 extra cab, and experimenting with the stock arm at distances between 0 and 5 inches down from the top of the glass doesn't get me a view out the rear window. I'm looking at the jump seats unless I angel the base manually. Seems a shim would fix this quickly. Maybe they make an alternative mounting bracket to glue to the windshield that is angled? Or maybe I'm missing something obvious about the mount/arm?

The mirror comes with the adjustable arm and the section that glues to the windshield.
This setup is a windshield mounted mirror.
It doesn’t use the Tacoma mirror housing.
I tried to use the windshield glue and it wouldn’t work very well.
    Safelite is your best solution

Yup, it’s nice you can pivot both ball sockets to get the perfect angle,
Just make sure the mirror position will clear with the visors in the down position

Does anyone have the wiring pin outs for the Gentex mirror? Mine has the hidden compass and temperature. I have not found the sensor anywhere or the wiring to make it come on. Mine was purchased used on eBay and it came with a 3 wire hookup. So all the other pins are not used.

The pin out should have come with all the wires,

The temperature sensor is a separate unit that gets installed in the grill area.

I would order a new connector and a specific temperature sensor for that unit.

    You have 5 wires
    1) Orange is 12v acc power.
    2) Black/red strip, power for homelink, you can wire these together to run on just ACC
    3) Black solid is ground
    4) Brown
    5) Blue both are for the temp sensor non polorized I believe

Hey there to the OP or whom ever has done this mod. I'm trying to get this done this week. Only thing that's stopping me is the splice into the cigarettes power/ACC. I have everything to splice it, but wondering if a fuse tap would be a better choice?

I'm assuming you spliced/connected the orange and the black/red Gentex harness wires to the red cigarette power wire?

Uploaded is a photo showing how I was planning on doing it. Thanks! (and yeah, I plan on cleaning lol)splice.jpg

Does anyone know if this will work with a GNTX-261 Mirror? Picked one from a Cadillac but didn't get the pin connector or sensors.[IMG] [IMG]

So I will say, now that I've been riding w/ the new mirror for some months.

    A WARNING

If you're a tall guy like me (6'3") this will create a bit of a blind spot for you, especially when making right turns on narrow roads/trails and blind corners. I've almost t-boned the car to my right at 4-way stops cause their car was the exact size of my mirror from my view.

When I get some time off I'm going to see if I can weld up an attachment that puts the new mirror back on the original mount underneath the dome light cap, which will remedy the issue..
