The only thing I don't like about my Taco is the rear diff howl. Everything else about it has been fantastic, including the AT performance.

Had I known the diff was going to make this much noise though, I probably would have bought something else.

'16 owner here. 82k miles later no issues. Still on original clutch and brakes. Even the factory battery lasted 78k miles

try driving another Toyota with the same engine and auto trans. They are MUCH better. I do agree with you on it being made a much bigger deal than it needs to be. I only notice it on the freeway when there are hills. Truck hunts like crazy. Thankfully I only make a drive like that every couple weeks.

Never understood the power seat thing most are so crazy about.

Bought my truck new on Halloween day 2018, and after I adjusted the seat where I want it, I've never moved the fucker.

Your personal experience doesn’t mean a ton of other people didn’t have problems.

I had an automatic 3rd gen, didn’t like the way it drove. I got a MT and couldn’t be happier. Good luck in your search OP!

agree, i dont like to wait 30 seconds for the power seats to recline or go back.
i rather lift the side lever and adjust it in a few seconds.

the only real bitch i have with the truck is why the hell did that move the oil filter
from the top front of the engine to under the engine behind the skid plate?
can you tell i recently did an oil change?
the tacoma should come stock with a fumoto valve.

I also had a 16. The trans drove me crazy. Since going to the MT, I’ve been happy with how the truck drives (I did still tune it to make it even better)

Also a 16 owner. 105k miles. Still on the factory battery. Have had the tranny tsbs done and it still shifts differently then my 3 speed 1979 ranchero.

It's the same truck, bro. You should keep driving and pay off what you have. Your boredom will pass.

I would say nope. I still have mine but I would not buy it again. Wish I would have got the f150 after driving my brothers 3.5L ecoboost I realized even more how disappointing the 3rd gen Tacoma powertrain is.

Compared to my 2nd gen, my wife’s 18 T4R, mother in laws highlander, father in laws 17 taco, brother in laws taco, sister in law sequoia my truck drives and shifts fine.

As I said before it’s over hyped. I drove the fucker from sc to Wyoming last fall and back it was a blast.

Both of my Cummins had trans issues, my Allison in my 06 duramax had trans issues. Granted they were somewhat user induced from mods but the trans in our trucks is solid. Despite what the Instagram crowd says these trucks are still built very well.

Still comparing a midsize truck to a full-size? Why not a Ford Ranger?

I do have to say though as for myself, if not for the Tacomas, none of the other options in the mid size class would have much interest to me and I would have to go full-size as well.

wait, I said that i agreed it was overhyped and you go crazy on listing a bunch of V6 Toyota’s (One for sure, possible two or more with a different engine than the third gen), three of them being Tacoma’s?

once again, the only time I notice it is on hills (Escondido to Temecula has miles of just uphill) and the transmission keeps trying to go into 6th. It does the same when I go from San Diego to campo every other weekend. Not a huge deal, I just switch modes and eliminate that option.

BUT, on the same hills with a Camry (dad’s), highlander(mom’s), I never had to do it. It‘s just programming.

hell my girlfriends V6 Kia shifts at a more ideal time than the Tacoma. Once again, I still don’t think it is as big of a deal as people make it.

Don’t get so uptight!! Just the internetz. Some of us have different opinions.
