    An interesting observation....

I am really impressed at the underside of our 2020 TRD Pro. Neatness and quality of everything under there makes me happy...except for one thing...

I appreciate the heat deflection material on the hoses to shield the super hot temperature from the exhaust.....but ..well..why did they not go all the way???

    Cost is usually the answer.

    bah humbug.....
Do you see that nice wire hold device on that green wire??? THAT is attention to detail that impresses me.
I usually see the wires dangling in the breeze on other brands....

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
True... could always heat wrap it or add a shield. Probably just enough room to not severely affect trans fluid temps (maybe even help them warm up in winter).

Because the further away from a heat source you get, the less you need to protect.

This is your heat affected zone. Those extra few inches mean nothing.

The bend will probably be the first place to fatigue & crack under heat since it’s under far more stress, so they got the important part. But cost / hassle is probably the main reason, the joints (depending on stress) would be next.

    Agreed....

I used to work in the motorcycle exhaust industry, I am nowhere what a Toyota Engineer is....but the OCD in me just HAS to heat wrap that puppy...

I also see a nice opportunity to make a dual exhaust set up, thanks to separate engine bank pipes.

The heat shields are primarily for the cats as they get much hotter than the exhaust pipe itself. So, what you are seeing is the pre cat and main cat heat shields.
