    Alpine halo : 4x18w rms $1000
    Kenwood dmx 7706 22x4w rms $500
    Pioneer avh w4500 4x14w rms $900
    T9 4x30w $380

As for carplay, t9 is wireless and autostarts with the truck. It does not skip or blink. Not sure what more you want. It has video features, ability to add camera, streaming services, sim card capabilities, gaming capabilities, live tv with subscription, equalizer, car info, you dont lose car settings, actually gain, 64 gb internal hard drive, plug and play. Aux video in...and i havent even really explored the depths of all these options.
The others have one or two of these features and requires additional hardware. Not sure what is there to compare. You can complain about the shitty android units all day long, but the proof is in the facts, not just salesman talk. You gotta face the facts that the big names with their big prices have been screwing you guys fir years...no innovation. For goodness sake, the halo looks like a crt monitor from the 80s. Has more bezel than screen. For now, androids are killing the competition in terms of features and price point. Oh and lets talk about support, does anyone from alpine, kenwood or pioneer even care about you after you’ve made the purchase? The android crowd is continually supporting these units with answers and support. Also 1 year no questions replacement warranty. 30 days money back. I dont make any money off these units but i will support my tacoma groups and show them what is possible

I have put in Racesport gen3 leds I'm the process of doing a custom audio overhaul which will include Hybrid audio unity 6x9 mid bass, unity 3 inch mid driver in the dash and fiberglassing tweets in pilar soundeading all the doors, floors, and headliner and I will be using a helix processor to retain the factory radio and as far as subs I might make custom brackets to move rear seat foward a few inches to get a full size sub in there or I might just go with a pair of jl tw5 or tw3 and it will all be powered by jl audio HD amps or I might try out the new hybrid amps
So did you meter the 30 watts rms? If so how clean is it? Because there is no point of having. Power if it is going to clip! And like I said the features are cool but there not reliable yet! Sure the car play works for know but what happens if Apple makes a update to block unauthorized carplay devices from working like how they stopped allowing you To mirror certain things in the past? And I’m talking from experience I work in a car audio shop we Gabe these android units a chance from many manufactures and they all work great for a bit! But then they stopped working the audio always sounded shitty and most importantly the interface they use(usually a little transparent red box) that communicates with your car and retains oem features starts to fail in one case it actually made car unusable until it was removed! And for alpine and other brand not giving you support that is a lie I deal with alpine and kenwood on a daily basis and they will bend over backwards to help customers.

I would recommend the kenwood excelon dnx996xr it is a amazing headunit and if you combine it with a maestro harness you will not loose any oem features! If you don’t care for built in navigation you can get the ddx9906xr and use carplay for gps. And if you don’t care about built in gps and cd you can get the dmx906s and save a ton of money

With my t9, I used sub out rca. There is also rr, rl, fr, fl rca out. The 4runner guys have complained that the sub out didnt work on theirs, so they used rr and rl, the disadvantage being you cant adjust the sub with the equalizer. Like i said it worked in the tacoma version. Px6....not sure

Thank you! The px6 is just supposed to be a better running unit. So it should have the same rca outputs. Thanks for your help.

It is definitely a learning curve. I got mine installed last night and nothing worked correctly. Got most of it working but my biggest issue is I get Zero sound out of the radio tuner. I wish it was more user friendly but I love the look of it filling the entire opening. Sound quality is definitely not as good as pioneer or other brands using the rca connectors

Are you getting static when trying to play the radio? I only got static after plugging in the antenna to the back of the radio but there is also a antenna plug that plugs into the antenna harness that I missed. Once I plugged it in, radio worked fine.

Yes I have the antenna plugged into the deck and the other end plugs into the oem connector. I wonder if I should just wire up my previous antenna adapter and see if that one works. I will just need to splice into power. You would think u would at least hear static if the antenna wasn’t connected properly?

I agree to the raw part and my time spent. It should be much further along. And having to modify brackets is crap also. I just really have wanted a bigger screen to fill the opening and larger display. The only thing close is that halo unit for $1k ish and I don’t want it sticking out. Yea this whole thing has been super frustrating. Still not resolved for me due to the am fm tuner not having any sound.

Jist to be sure we're talking about the same plug, this is the plug I'm talking about that's connected to the antenna plug. I missed it at first because the plug from the factory isnt plugged I to anything and I had the fish down into the dash to find it.

Fyi, I have the jbl audio system.

I have a alpine halo sitting on my bench. I pulled it from my second gen before I sold it. I wanted to try the android and use apps instead of android auto or carplay.

Yes this is the same wire I have. Mine is jbl also and yes mine is plugged in and still have zero sound. Thanks for helping. I’ll probably pull mine this weekend and try my old harness like that and see if anything changes. Thanks

I’ve never had a problem with my pioneer decks. I wouldn’t say they are buggy at all. Super solid and offer more options than stock. Guess that’s just been my experience. I have been running pioneer since around 1999 without issue.

Thinking about investing in one sometime. Question. In regards to streaming audio services, does it use data or the antenna? I mainly listen to Sirius xm and wondering if it will be running off the xm satellite (or data)

can it run Netflix, Disney +, Hulu, Amazon prime, espn, etc? I would assume so since it’s an android and you can download it in the google play store..

in regards to data, where would you insert the SIM card and where would you get service?

What is this px9 you are referring to?

will it work on a 2020 Tacoma trd pro?

lastly, how is the install process?

    thanks!

Um it doesnt support xm radio natively like stock radio but you can download the app to listen to it. You will need to be online for that. The px6 does not have the sim card tray that the t9 has, but the px6 is the newer model with android 9 as opposed tge t9 with android 8.1. I dont use a sim but it has a tray that you put tge sim in and it plugs in back. Not sure about which carriers provide service, but its just like getting a data card for your ipad. Be wary of some streaming services such as youtube tv as google will treat the android headunit as not a trusted source and prevent you from playing. I do have betflux, regular youtube, and the pirated streaming sites/apps. Im not sure if this is compatible with 2020 as i believe the harness changes from previous years. The install process is a little complicated, especially setting it up but essentislly plug and play.

Hey I just bought a T9 and installed it into my 2016 tacoma trd sport and cannot get the rear camera to work. Has anyone run into this issue. Any recommendations?
