Hey guys, wanted to see what straps, lashings, ratchets, etc. y’all are running.

After a fun morning fumble fucking with boat lights, trailer issues etc. I realized I could have used a healthier mix of securing kit.

What can’t you leave home without when hauling, towing, moving?

Large plastic tarp, large moving blankets, 6 1000 lb ratchet straps, 3 300 lb rachet straps, ratcheting pole for the bed, and red duct tape to make streamers out of to attach to large objects.

Not so much a towing/hauling kit, but I always keep a few of those carabiners with the rope bites built into them. I keep two lengths of sailing rope; one long enough to go 'round the four corners of the bed twice, and one about half that length. I also have a set of ratchet straps. Stock Toyota cleats too.

Those little carabiners are pretty slick.

The ropes I have since I sort of just had them from my sailing days and they'e been working well. I have two 150' lengths of climbing rope that someday I'll put under the hot knife and make smaller sections out of. Just haven't been able to bring myself to do it.

The usual ratchet straps, a tarp and a big bungy cord net that fits over the whole bed....

The cam buckle tie downs are a must for me! 9/10 times, this is what I use, they're so much quicker for every day light duty things, like simply holding a chainsaw, gas can, etc from sliding all over. These stay lose in my bed (under a cover of course), and the ratchet straps are wound neatly and only used when force needed to tie down.

Costco usually has a nice set of very good ratchet straps for a reasonable price.

Also, while they won't help you with the boat, swapping the bed bolt washers for d-rings has been very handy for me.

For ratcheting tie downs and accessories take a look at Mac's Custom Ties Downs. Expensive but very good if not the best. I have used all brands of tie downs trailering karts, cars, and motorcycles for 30 years and have developed the buy once cry once attitude on tie downs, much cheaper than the cost caused by broken tie downs.
