Looking for any info you may have on the road like best spot to set up a tent to camp or best direction to take the road. Anything special we have to do besides the tower and table top rock?

    Thank you in advance.

I would say the best spot for rent camping is on the state park side. Or across the river in the other end. I can give general GPS coordinates of you want. Most of the designated camp spots are tiny, barely enough room for a vehicle and tent.

I'm hearing I should go threw the park and get on the trail and drive about 4 miles before finding a campsite. Somewhere I read about a spot after a water crossing and I'm wondering if it will be easy to see when I come to it. My tent is kind of big so that worries me about the spots being small.

There's a large camp site somewhere in this area, 39.082403,-79.567145. it would be the best spot if you have a large tent, pretty much every other spot is tiny.

There's also a large site in this area as well, 39.063149,-79.523081, but you have to cross the River to get there.

Water crossing are not a big deal if they are low enough. I have a snorkel and all the vents are raised. Just don't need water in the cab

I can't say how it is now, but I had no issues back in March.

Sounds good to me. Typically I walk water crossing before crossing if I'm new to the area.

I want to head out and camp in that area Memorial Day but my offroad experience is limited. Is Canaan loop a good trail for a beginner? I am lifted 2-3” but I don’t want to get over my head. What’s your thoughts on this?

Most of it is nicely graded, the section on the state park side is a bit more difficult. I did see a stock 3rd Gen make it through on his own though.

Awesome! We had a great time there, we'll be back someday, but it's a heck of a drive from here. If you like hiking there's a few spots to camp that you won't have to drive to the trailhead.
