So this is my first thread. Pretty bummed it is negative. I love this forum and the information you all provide. Long time lurker, but never really had much reason to post until recently.

I purchased hi rise crossbars because I wanted to keep my tonneau cover on and mount a roof top tent. I was unaware of the issues brought up on the forum before purchasing. Definitely my fault for not doing more research. 2 of the brackets came damaged in the mail. Box was crushed by the mail carriers. Emailed chad, and he said replacements would be issued. No problem there.

Then I went to install the brackets that weren't damaged. I was still excited with the product and being impatient. The hardware sent was a super tight fit. Weird. I figured maybe the powder coating got in the threads. It seemed to be getting easier to thread. And then I stripped a security screw. Went to the hardware store to get a tap a die to try to re thread the holes. They couldn't match the threads and said the threads may have been cut wrong....whatever that means. Then i bought different bolts that matched the size of the issued ones. Those still wouldn't thread easy. I emailed chad twice asking for help or advice. No response. I figured it was a holiday weekend, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and wait till Tuesday. Still nothing, but new posts on their instagram page. After talking with some more mechanically savvy people, i decided to drill out the holes and put bolts with nuts on the back side. I had to drill out the stripped screw anyway.

Additionally, I had to bend one of the fittings to even mount the cross bar on the bracket and the powder coat rubs off during installation. Spray paint seems to hold up better.

Honestly, I am disappointed in this entire experience and I hope this post can steer someone in a different direction.

Pics below. Ended up drilling it out and repainting.

Just for your benefit, let me summarize how this reads:

Cross threaded a bolt in my new rack. Can’t fix on my own so I emailed vendor during a holiday weekend. Pissed because vendor didn’t reply before lunch the following work day.

I had some issues Voodoo (Chad) awhile back when I bought their bed rack. To make a long story short. Would never buy from them again. I feel your frustration buddy.

Cross threaded with supplied hardware. Fixed on my own. I don't want anything from the vendor. Just don't want people to make the same mistake.

Wait until the power coat flakes off on those hard edges gives a nice patina.
