Just upgraded to 2015 DCLB (50k miles). Bought it in PA, drove it out to CO. Toyota dealership in PA called and said they want to do the CRC coating at no charge. Problem is CO is not a qualifying cold climate state but I'm asking them to honor it as it's been in PA for 50k miles. I live in western CO which isn't as snowy as up high but I still want to clean up the frame as much as possible.

My question is what is people's experience with the CRC? Should I have it done so I can get the Toyota stamp on it (it was CPO so they did inspect it already, but kind of shady that they're now calling to do the coating). What should I do in addition to the CRC if I have it done? Just want to avoid issues down the road while also covering myself with the warranty. Thanks!

    Here's what it looks like.

They first inspect it and then schedule you for the coating inside the frame. So 2 trips to the dealer is needed.
Thats how my letter from Toyota explained it.

I would have them coat the inside frame first, get warranty.
Then undercoat the frame myself on a warm day with wool wax, just like FF but thicker and doesn’t smell they say.

Wire brush and scraper followed by regular application of Rustoleum spray paint has kept my 2009 frame looking pretty good and I can work under it and not get coated with frame protection crap. Been in FL most of the time with a year on Maine coast, year on Mass Turnpikes, and again in VA on an island so it works. Yearly touchup required. Same held true for my 15 year old Suburban in CO!

Id be more concerned with whats inside of the frame. Screw that CRC crap...just traps moisture and accelerates the corrosion already present. Like others said...start fluid film or just oil spray yearly. Oil has worked great so far for me. Just keep it away from rubber bushings as over time it can swell them.

I tried the same thing. Registered in WI and lived in CO. Since CO wasn’t a cold weather state they told me they didn’t have the proper equipment to do it and I would have to be in an actual cold weather state.
