I can’t decide if I wanna get rid of my stock 245’s and get some 265/75/16. I have a double cab 2.7 auto. Who has experience with bigger tires? Will my truck die and explode or be just fine? I live in San Diego and travel all types of inclines. What input of advice do you guys have? Thanks!

Itll be fine but youll feel a little bit of a difference. If you do go up a size try to stick with a lighter tire to keep unsprung weight to a minimum

    What he said.
I have 265/75-16 Cooper STT Pros and they feel heavy, are noisy and burn gas. I recommend not getting E load range tires unless you are doing some serious wheeling. If you are, get the Coopers!

Why do you want bigger tires?

That's not a huge change in tire size but the 4 cyl automatic is definitely challenged going up hills. I hated my truck at first, especially since I was coming from a Silverado with the 5.3. I'm getting used to it and I'm usually not in a hurry but hills really make me miss the V8. My tires are 305/65/17 which is around the same height as 285/75/16. Towing the boat up a hill, I usually let the UPS truck get in front of me.

I’m in the 265/75-16 camp. Just big enough, but no noticeable loss. Oh yes, NO E load.

    Still thinking about it.
I put 'E's on my half ton Chevy and it rides like hell! Got lightweight Falken 'P's for the Tacoma and it's great.

So I ended up getting some 2020 trd pro wheels and hankook at2 in 265/75/16. This set up is 2 lbs less than my stock setup with steelies. It’s definitely gonna look good! I will report back once I install it all

hadnt noticed the alps around San Diego

    bigger tyres help off roading

the bigger tyre the MORE U Lose Ur ' mechanical Aadvantage '
U lose low soeed pulling power
    diminish the torque

lift + bigger tyre in some situations are a must
adapt to UR environs + Expectaions

Have the same. E rated. Heavy Coopers. I will be replacing them with a lt or p rated tire when time. They ride like a bulldozer
