The wind deflector that came with the Yakima Load warrior cargo basket was too small allowing air to flow underneath the basket causing a lot wind noise and turbulence.
I took a piece of diamond plate, cut and shaped to my liking.
I installed a piece of weather strip on the lower edge to protect the paint. I drilled three holes and used the original Yakima hardware to bolt it on.
I gave it 4 four coats of hammer tone textured black spray paint.
I tested it this Memorial Day weekend on a 940 mile road trip and 100% percent satisfied.
(I included the before picture with the original Yakima wind deflector).

Nice solution. I wonder if extending it down a bit so it sat on the windshield would be better? Even with that weatherstripping on there over time it'll probably still wear away the paint.

I dint want it to contact the windshield because the basket flexes and didn't want the possibility of it cracking the windshield. This weatherstrip is very soft and I'm sure it will wear the paint overtime. My truck at almost 80,000 miles has scratches, paint chips and dings all over anyway. I just didn't want metal on metal contact.
