Blower Fan for AC doesn't work on High setting

The blower fan doesnt work on high setting but works just fine on the other settings. I've searched but didn't find anything. Any insights?

 

Most likely the blower fan switch. Pull the climate control and unplug the fan switch connector. More than likely you will see the connector burnt.

It's definitely NOT the resistor.

 

Yep. Same issue here about 4 years ago. The fan connector to the blower was brunt. The female connector plug melted and was unusable. I had to buy some narrow female blade connectors. Hopefully, your connectors are usable.

 

I have 2014 did the same thing. Turned out to be a bad blower motor resistor. I also cleaned out the blower motor with some elecroclean spray. so much crap came out from the housing where the brusher make contact. now it works on all settings and cleaning the motor out quieted it down a little bit.

If the fan is working on low speeds and not working on high, the problem can’t possibly be the resistor. On a fully functioning truck, you can take the resistor out and throw it in the wood chipper and the fan will still work just fine on high.

 

That hasnt been my experience. had a vehicle would only run fan on low, not high. Was the resistor.

 

That’s impossible. If you look at the schematic, you will see that the high speed completely bypasses the resistor.

 

Whoops yeah mine would only work on high.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING
With the truck engine off
ignition on -
Set the fan speed to MEDIUM
Go under the dash on the passenger side and you'll see wiring and connectors for the HVAC.
Wiggle them around. Does the fan come on?

 

That's it. The female side has a burnt spot on it. After I reconnected it worked on all speeds, lol. Maybe it vibrated loose. I'll have to take a better look at the switch to and connector to get an idea of what to do going forward.

 

Anyone got any direct links (ideally videos) to how-to get into the console to access the fan switch connector? If it matters, mine is 2013 Tacoma Ext Cab and only Off and High are presently working. And I have to first try the “wiggle wiring connector” suggestion from earlier post on this thread.

 

If it works on high, and not on the slower speeds, it’s most likely the resistor and resistor connector. It’s under the dash near the glove box. If you find the connector burnt, replace the resistor and the connector.

 

This ought to be a bold-set sticky at the top center as it has been asked sooooooo frequently.

 

I just replaced the resistor and the burnt connector entirely. the AC works on all settings EXCEPT high. What should I do first? Also, It seems there is a small leak on the low-pressure ac line on the passenger side. Right on the connection tube.

 

Use a plastic knife to pop out the climate control panel. Unplug the switch connector. You will probably see the connector and the switch burnt.

 

If they are both burnt I'm assuming the only way to fix it would be to just find a replacement for the connector and the switch?

 

Buy a used switch and a new connector body and 1 new pigtail.
