I’m the original owner of a 2006 Taco with a JBL-6 disc factory radio. The other day it wouldn’t stay on the same channel. It would skip up a few channels then come back then do it again. It did this for two days. Today I tried it and it’s working normal. Any ideas what’s going on?

It’s a skiptastrophy. I love my music but I don't have the largest CD collection to keep me satisfied. I’d rather listen to the same crap day after day on the radio. ;)

Old age could be traces breaking down metal dust of some sort causing a bridge .

fooling it to change stations .

Might be time to think about something new

I copied all my cd stuff and didn’t even get a CD player in my new radio.
Now it’s on my phone and flash drives.

Could be a lot of things, for instance, it could be steering wheel buttons, spiral cable...

Could it be as simple as the Seek or Scan button getting stuck like half pressed and sometimes it makes full contact. How do the buttons on the radio feel? Does cycling the buttons make a diff?

All great replies, thanks. It fixed itself and hasn’t acted up in a week. Only lasted two days.

96carboard May have nailed it with the spiral cable though. I have an intermittent cruise control issue as well. It sometimes won’t turn on when needed. Which I believe is the spiral cable. Someone said on another site that there was a recall on it, I’ll be checking with my dealer.

Failing the recall, you can also get them aftermarket for a LOT less than dealership rates. Check Amazon/Fleabay.

Well, finally had the dealer replace the spiral cable. Cruise control works like a champ. Radio never did act up again.

Even though mine is a 2006 they said my vin # wasn’t part of the recall. What kind of BS is that?
